    522 with 2.51 is great....but

I wish you could scroll a single channel vertically. The old Dishplayer allowed you to do a search by station id and then you could scroll down the listing vertically. Very nice and much quicker. I miss that.

From Dish Network (Although not officially): Remote Questions

    1. When in limited mode, the remote will automatically change back to SAT mode after a selected time if the customer presses the TV mode button. - This should apply after a change to ANY mode other than SAT. DO NOT LIMIT it to TV. Probably the most foolproof of the options. Defaulting...

First Look - Dish Whole House HD/SD Solution?

Actually if my memory serves me, Claude G (aka metro) posted an Apr 1 thread about something like this on DBSDish.com (I think it was that site) YEARS ago. Never was actually sure whether it was an April Fools joke or not. I believe at that time he called it the 921 (his rumor in that same...

    522 DVR Video Issues

Has this (all of these?) problem been phoned into Dish Tech reps? It is good to find advice/work arounds here, but in the end they will never be addressed if we do not let Dish know of the problems we see.

    Dish 522 Standby sleep mode

You cannot turn it off. That bouncing Dish logo ALWAYS kicks in as soon as you turn it "off". The manual sez the purpose of the bouncing logo is a visual reminder so that you always know when the TV is connected to and tuned to the correct channel for the 522 (would be important for TV2).

All timers & daily schedule vanished...cured!

I found with my 510 that If something went wrong with the EPG (corrupted and dumped) and shows only no info for all times and all channels, then none of the timers will show up on the timer listing even though they are there (on teh HD). Once the guide data is refreshed timer are visible again...

Well, I jumped in and my 522 was installed this afternoon. So far I like what I have played with. Let's give it a week and see how it performs.

As Gary has said. The key is that you are NOT going back to Dish when you go to this new box/set up, you are becoming an SBC video customer. SBC deal with Dish prohibits them from poaching current customers but, after 180 days off the Dish subscriber roles, it is not considered a poach.

    Dish 721 Validating Hard Drive

That is certainly not normal. It shouldn't validate the HD that frequently and certainly not on its own. That occurs after a reboot, not a power down/standby. The unit is self healing in that if it detects corruption in the code it automatically downloads the entire software load, thus wiping...

    522 Dishin'it up promo details

Just called the "special" Club Dish hot line and the rep said teh same thing. Lease fee replaces the extra receiver fee. But she did say that the $49 was a delivery fee and that there was also a $50 install fee. Both are must pays. So it is $99 to get it, but like you guys said if replacing a...

    522 Dishin'it up promo details

Hmm, they mailed me the 510 that was the upgrade for my 2000. But previously when I traded from the DP 7200 to 501, that came only via a local dealer. So it is $49 to have a dealer deliver it and hook it up and that is it? No trade in? What about the lease fee? So do you end up with lease...

    More 510 problems.

I have not seen this on my 510 either, I would certainly call Dish and when they answer ask to transfer to advanced tech support. When you get ATS request an RMA from them. Shouldn't be an issue if the box is less than 1 yr old or if you have the extended warranty. If you have autopay on your...

    522 Dishin'it up promo details

There wasn't a committement on the keeping/using the box, just staying with Dish service (2 yrs for the $49, 1 yr for the $99 deal). I plan on doing the same thing.

    More 510 problems.

Plus a monthly lease fee? Or a deal like the the 510 upgrade, $49 and a two year agreement?
  21. R

    We DID IT!

Probably, but the question is will they stick the $5 DVR fee on you. Is it worth $60 a year to get one. The 721 does not carry the fee, the 522 does.

    CES Day 4 - TimeTrax & SBC / Dish Network U-VERSE

FWIW: I have been told that intially (this summer) that this package will only be rolled out in the "western" portion of SBC's markets. I wasn't told how far "west" is, but they did not think that IL or MO would see this package this year.

    942 ($749) Why buy this?

Dish is counting on a big pool of uninformed consumers to foist this off on and then charge them additional fee (I think Scott quted Charlie as saying "little to nothing"!! HA.) to change it out.

SBC & Dish in new Joint Venture

For me it really depends on the monthly lease price. I wouldn't object to set up fee and a small monthly, vice a $20-$25 a month fee on the box. I suspect that by the time this ready to go they may end up rolling it all into a service/hardware bundle with the standard/obligatory 2 yr...
