I WAS describing my local NBC's version of HD. During the olympics, they carried the NBC network feed on the digital channel.. soon as it was over, it switched to the SD 4:3 signal, STRETCHED to 16:9 and UPCONVERTED to HD. in other words.. a JOKE.

pity it won'd help us poor shlubs who's local NBC's idea of "HD" is SD, upconverted and stretched (no, I'm not kidding... even the HD Network shows).

suggest you grab a copy of DVD Decrypter and pull the data off them QUICKLY and rewrite them to better quality discs. I like BeAll's from Meritline myself.

Direc TV can add the internationals to combat DISH. They can stack up the HD to outdo DISH.. BUT THEY STILL CAN'T GET THE FRIGGING SUPERSTATIONS ON??? There are SOME places that don't have OTA WB/UPN and the cable companies and DISH are making hay with it... misplaced priorities...

SPECULATION #1 - I would hope they add the Superstation Package. That's one of the few 'ups' that E* has on D*. Even when they get around to adding locals for here, there would STILL be no UPN/WB (Time-Warner has a 'cherry picked' cable only channel with selected UPN/WB shows) like in many parts...

They specifically told her "high defination", that's what makes it so screwy. I'll get more information tomorrow.
