    Comcastic Speed Increase coming soon

There is no doubt Comcast marketing can be creatively 'slick' but also kind of obvious. I am not much into conspiracy theories, but having a problem with my connection and 20 min later leaving chat with a TV promo offer, and a solid signal at a much higher speed is a little much to be a coincidence.

    Comcastic Speed Increase coming soon

Thank you! That confirms my suspicions.

    Comcastic Speed Increase coming soon

Last week we suffered some outages, I called Comcast to confirm. The tech said there were some problems in my area but they should clear by this evening. I chatted with the tech via my cell (4G) and he asked if I would be interested in 105mps minimum service. Up to now I have had 50+ with speed...

    Missing Channels ( They're back!)

I saw locals from across the country, including mine, but none in HD. Very strange. Fortunately, I do get OTA locals if I need 'em next time.

    Skip Issues

That's what I suspect too. Replacement Hopper will be here Thursday.

    Skip Issues

Bad again, new receiver coming. Freezes on all recording playback or when using SKIP.

    Skip Issues

A full reset fixed it, pulling the plug. First time for everything I guess!

    Skip Issues

Anyone have problems with 'Skip' forward or back? I have a Hopper but I think the issue would be similar on any Dish DVR. When I use skip I get major delays before it goes forward or back. And then when it does go forward or back, it freezes again, for several seconds before resuming. Very...

New S229 Feature - Bluetooth Audio

That's possible, one time I removed them and held them in front of me, and still no audio. I turned off the phones, turned them back on, and the audio was back. So far this has been a very infrequent occurrence.

New S229 Feature - Bluetooth Audio

I have noticed it on occasion. I could probably tolerate a small amount for the off times I would be using BT. Time will tell. The drop outs concerned me more, but used them for 1 1/2 hrs. last night which is longer than I would on a regular basis, and except for one drop out of about 10...

New S229 Feature - Bluetooth Audio

I use the cheapie Kinivo 'phones which have good SQ for the price. Good enough fit for occasional use. Have experienced some cut outs, but most of the time it works as intended. This will be a real winner when available on the Joey.

Did you get a free Roku offer?

First guy was only going to give me free SHO for one month.. I said I would prefer a Roku or other longer term discount. I was on chat-hold for 55 min. (Gave me time to assemble a shelf system at home). then a Dish Customer Loyalty agent came on and gave me the 10 off a month for 1 year.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

They did not directly address the question when I posed it, I think they could be running out. They offered me 10 bucks a month discount for one year. That will cover some Amazon downloads for a while. :) I have a Roku anyway.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

It could well be the older XD, refurbished, since I don't believe they sell that model any more. Although Roku does have refrubed units of most anything they sold or are selling.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

OH, yes.. unless AMC gets a sudden wake up call, I don't expect them back anytime soon. You would think their sponsors would be beating them about the head & shoulders. It would seem, based on the popularity (niche or not) of Mad Men, TWD, Breaking Bad, etc. some will eventually show up on other...

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

Huh? OK. I'll restate it more clearly, the Roku 2 XD has only a wireless connection. The older Roku XD had two ways to access the internet, a wireless connection or using a 'wired' ethernet connection. Sorry, for any confusion.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I don't mind the 10 buck-a-month discount for a year. Maybe they are running out of refurbed Rokus. (I have one anyway) $120 will pay for a few Amazon downloads a month. I was on hold on chat for 55 min. waiting for a Customer Loyalty agent. Gave me time to assemble a shelving system, as a...

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I could be wrong, but I thought both XD models are wireless. The original unit was larger and had an ethernet port as well. The newer unit is smaller and rounded.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I guess there is power in the email number, I best call it and see what I can do. I have no real qualms about losing AMC. There was programming there I watch regularly, but knew I always had a back up for those. I think what DN is doing to compensate is fair, and it means they do realize there...

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

Dish sent me an email this morning, saying to call a number to find where I can access AMC programming. If you are going to the trouble to send an email, why not just say it!

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I stated an opinion. I was only commenting on what I've observed happening. My only point being that providers do have a fair amount of control over cable/sat networks, in contrast with major OTA networks, for example. I'm not sure the significance of 'top 20', but whatever the others are...

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

AMC demands ARE disproportionate to what they have delivered, whether you consider it quality programming, original or not. They are risking the loss of viewers in what is really a niche market, by strong-arming providers. Maybe they are losing sight of the fact they are still a 'cable channel'...

That may be true. I notice Direct has AMC across all tiers.

DISH Drops AMC Networks (AMC Back on DISH channel 131)

I guess Dish wants to keep as many channels as they can (total number of channels being a sacred cow for marketing?), while trying to save $$ by cutting one of the most popular ones. I can understand their not wanting to set a precedent with AMC, so maybe they don't get strong-armed by some...
