I was watching the SEA vs. CHI on NBC last night via an OTA antenna and the HD quality was awful. The problem had nothing to do with D*. You can put this quality issue 100% on the shoulders of NBC.

I have been waiting to see an AT9 mounted on a house but haven't found one. I did see a Superdish however. Are they about the same size?

That is huge. TiVo has always worked this way. Whoever designed the the SA-8300HD should look at either of these examples as the proper way to design a DVR.

I have used the same antenna in the same position for each receiver. My new Sony TV had the best performance. I don't know enough about it to explain why. The other two were made by the same mfg. Perhaps Samsung and Sony have different designs??

You will not be able to use the HD-Tivo to watch your HD locals off of the satellite due to the Mpeg4 compression. Yes, you need the dish to pick up the locals from D*. You should keep the OTA Antenna if you sill want to use your HD-Tivo on your primary TV

I ordered the free DVR last Friday. I now have an add'l receiver on the D* website. It shows as "livingRoom: HNS" I did not put this there so I must be getting a Hughes DTiVo.

It's no contest. Get the TiVo while you still can.
