tdti1, I notice you mentioned you have c/ku/dbs feed. Is the Norsat feedhorn you have compatible with DSS systems as well? I understand one would need a circular/linear ku lnb for this. Also, my other question is: do they make a C-Band/Ku-band (linear + circular) lnb's in an all-in-one design...

Also make sure the connection box is an area that you have exclusive control of, otherwise you may be breaking the law by tempering with it.

I didn't see the answer to the original question: Why should someone order from a 3rd party dealer as opposed to calling up DirecTV directly? What do you gain with this?

I think WalksInDarkness should not mess with his system at all, not until he has a licensed electrician fix the problem. Something is terribly wrong with his electrical wiring in his house. He should feel lucky he only fried a few Directv boxes, it could have been worse...
