    LNB and frequency

It's enough that I don't get any channels that I previously saved, nor do saved or preprogramed TP's result in any channels. I could swap receivers, but I really like the Mercury II for finding channels. Maybe its time to step up to a better LNB. Maybe get one of those ones that does both...

    LNB and frequency

Another thought, can I assume the discrepency is caused by the lnbf and not the receiver (a Mercury II)?

    LNB and frequency

It's an Extreme II that is around 4 or 5 years old.

    LNB and frequency

All my transponders when I blind scan, are 16mhz higher than the published transponders. Should I swap out my LNB? It seems to prevent me from entering correct TP information and finding a channel.

    LNB and frequency

I notice my frequency is always several mhz off the reported frequency when I scan in transponders. Is this a problem? How many mhz out can you be and still get a good signal if you don't blind scan in the transponders? I guess the local oscillator is slightly off frequency in the lnb.

How many Remotes do you have on your coffee table

We have four, but my wife confuses things by thinking she can just take one downstairs and use it on the tv down there when she can't find the downstairs remote. They look identical, but they are not interchangeable. So we wind up with two rooms with neither remote working right. And lets not...

    old radio shack catalogs

Love that Rod Serling commercial for Radio Shack. I'd never seen it before. Twilight zone used to just freek me out when I was a kid, wildy imaginative stories with a real twist.

    old radio shack catalogs

My earliest memories of Radio Shack were when it was a side line of the Tandy Leather Company. They had a lot of kits and do it your self stuff and kind of reminded me of Heathkit, another cool company back then. I too did a stint working at a Radio Shack store.

SPRING DANGERS IN THE DISH PILE

Wow! And I thought I had it bad with mosquitoes when I was up on the roof. Snakes, that's nasty.

Sounds interesting. Sure beats shows about Colon Cleansers and amazing shammies.

    What's your favorite Satellite?

97W might be good for some ethnicity (arab / east indian?) or religious content. I can't find much there that interests me though. Its not particularly "mainstream" America (or Canada!).

    Adding a satellite

I seem to recall last time I added a satellite on a viewsat pro, I did something like a shortcut, and simply renamed an existing satellite and deleted existing TP's. Those things are tricky and the manuals don't cover everything you need to do. Its more like playing a video game, in that you...

    What's your favorite Satellite?

If he likes old tv shows, RTV, formerly RTN is on one satellite. I think 93W? You get two different time zones, East and West of RTN. If you go to RTV's website you can print out a weekly program guide. Same shows all week, weekends different lineup. Correction, its 83W, I have 93W on the...

    Confirmed Boxing Clottey vs Pacman

Cool. I'll motor over to that sat tonight and see how it comes in. Never thought of trying those channels, but now that I see there is good stuff on there, I'll need to include them in my channel list.

    Confirmed Boxing Clottey vs Pacman

Is this in standard DVB format, or do I need a special FTA receiver to view it? I'm using a Fortec Star Mercury II. Does the signal get as far North as Canada?

This may be little off topic...... It's blast from the past on SSTV pics...

I have an old homemade slow scan receiver, made from a Navy high phosphor radar tube. I viewed the pictures that JPL put out when Voyager Satellite was passing by or through the rings of Saturn. Used to record them on a cassette tape to play back again. Never had a flying spot scanner to...

PBS on 125°W is AWESOME! :)

My parents were frugal and never bought a new TV until well into the 70's. We had old Black and White console type tv's, that sometimes needed fixing. You could take a tube down to the drug store and they had a machine with sockets that fit just about every type of tv tube. You looked up...

    Loop through what config?

Thanks guys. Got the PVR working. It really works slick. Now to set it up with my favorite other satellites.

    Loop through what config?

Thanks guys. I'm trying to set up a Viewsat Pro with pvr. I got it to scan G10r and it picked everything up. Now I'm working on the PVR part. Frustration though. It doesn't seem to recognize the external USB HDD.

    Loop through what config?

I have a Mercury II and I just bought another receiver with PVR. I want to run it off the loop through on the back of the Merc II. Should the Mercury II simply be switched off from the front? Or the back? Or neither?

Merc II doesn't like SG2100 motor??

I just use USALs and lie to the receiver about the location of the satellite. About 3 degrees less longitude seems to get it lined up for the circular lnb strapped beside the linear.
