Thanks for the advice.. but I already popped the back off of the insertor (it was very easy) and soldered the wires directly to the DC jack. Works great. Take Care:D

Thanks for the info... I think I am going to try an old HP power supply (22V/2.2A) first before paying for an original one. Take Care

Problems locating 61.5 - any advice?

Finally...Success! Today I tried with TP 25 (I thought that was the one from a previous post in this thread) and I had it locked in under 30 seconds with a strength of 104. Wierd, from when I put up my Dish 500 several years ago, I thought you always peaked on TP 11 for all satellites...

Problems locating 61.5 - any advice?

Thanks for the advice... I am going to try again in a couple of days - it is supposed to rain again tomorrow anyways. Thanks for the offer Van but I think a 4 hour round trip for travel time is probably going to cost a alot (we are half way between the Motor city and the big smoke-Toronto)...

Problems locating 61.5 - any advice?

That would be good but... I don't think the Dish techies want to come to Canada. Wouldn't be much help if they installed it at my sister in laws in Tampa either. We use her address for the subscription. Thanks

Problems locating 61.5 - any advice?

Okay, I finally have my wife convinced that we need to upgrade our 811 to a new receiver (probably a 211). Currently we only have a dish 500 antenna up and found our old dish 300 dish in the garage from 10+ years ago (it came with my original 3000) and put it up. Instead of ripping out my 811...

    Activating Dish in Canada

You can call Dish 1-800 from Canada... Just use an AT&T phone card from WalMart. It is not cheap (about 20 cents a minute) but it is alot easier than getting my sister in law in Tampa do make a 3 way call. Be prepared - if you own your equipment, they will want a social security number to do a...

    SC down South...way south!

Hey Cheebs glad you got the receiver! I would think that for aiming at a single satellite, adjusting the skew would be easiest at the LNB. I just remember back to the old Alphastar days (1M dish min. here in Canada) and when Expressvu first started, they had an LNB bracket with hash marks on it...

Bell to sell majority stake in BGM..

What is Bell up to now??? The Financial Post on saturday reported that BCE has sold a large stake in CGI Group for $859 million. They go on to mention that several analysts are speculating that they will now try to buy controlling interest in Shaw communications. One of the end games - merge...

    Difference between StarChoice LNB's

Thanks for the all of the replies.. but I will end up probably buying a new quad lnb dish in the spring instead of using the stacked one I bought at a garage sale for $15. It is a pain to have to call them all of the time. Thanks again Me-At-Work

    Difference between StarChoice LNB's

That makes sense... The installer made some vague mention of only requiring one cable into the house for stacked LNB systems with multiple receivers and a simple splitter inside. Thanks for the info - do you have any idea how to switch it in a "hidden menu" Thanks Me-At-Work

    Difference between StarChoice LNB's

Can some explain to me the difference between the stacked and quad LNB's that they use? Even the installer could not give me a half decent explanation, even though he did an excellent job. The stacked dish has an external switch and the qud is build in - is the switch different? I do know that...

    FS: Starchoice DSR505 HD Receiver

Bought a receiver with the hopes of convincing the wife to buy a new LCD tv for upstairs to complement the home theatre downstairs. No dice with her. Have to stick with the '205 upstairs and the old 32" tv. Anyways, NIB (New In Box-never opened) this High-Def receiver has all accesories...

Bell to sell majority stake in BGM..

First off, I appreciate all of the information that this site has provided since I started poking around here. This news on Friday last week was very surprising, if you do not already know, or really care: Bell anounced that they would sell their majority stake in BGM (operator of CTV, TSN...
