    A clinometer is what you need to see if you have the shot to the satellite.Find the direction you need to aim the dish with a compass then use this check your elevation. I have one for sale like new 40 bucks pm me if interested. You can see a picture of it in classifieds.

    The problem is the that the tech is only getting paid 35 bucks for the first reciever and 15 for the 2nd ,third etc. Out of this he pays for materials,gas. It's easier for him to say no way and go on to a job that he won't lose money on. There is always a way to get wires in, if you sweetened...

    Sounds like your reciever needs a software update . Unplug it for a minute plug it back in and see if it gets an update from the satellite.

    Line posts work just fine for a dish and if buried 30 inches with concrete your not going to rip them out with your hands.

    Yes your reciever can fry your lnb's if it is putting out to many volts it should be 19.2 volts max.

    Grounding isn't done to protect your equip. it's done to protect you, if you are losing lnb's to lightning dissipating the charge that builds up at the dish during a storm might help reduce the # of strikes. Are you sure lightning is what is frying your lnb's ?

    A question for installers

    Flooded cable is carried on my truck but the customer pays extra for it . I've been installing for 10 years and any underground is supposed to be flooded cable. Then again I won't work for the crappy rates now being paid so my truck sits in the yard.
