    Churn and Burn!

Everything I heard about timelines for the new HD DVR (aka HR20-250) with MPEG 4 is it is slated to come out in June and you will have to lease it with a hefty down payment of at least $499 after rebate. Then pay $5 or $10 a month per household for DVR service. Sounds alot like the $10 a month...

    Churn and Burn!

For sure if all that is available in your area is Analog that would stink. Very few channels and low quality. I wouldn't go for that either. Right now the Sats got ya! Perhaps they are confident that much of their customer base is in the middle of nowhere and have no choice. Thanks, Mike

    Churn and Burn!

Well, that conversation took a turn. I'm not feeling the love down here in Florida! :D I hope my picture quality is good with cable, but if it isn't I will tell em to take it back that day. I will find out on Saturday. :yes As I said in my opening statement, I love DTv and Tivo, but I'm...

    HDMI vs. Component Vid

Thanks for the info. The $150 was at Circuit City and that seemed to be the going price in Monster and their cheaper price cables. Typical when something new comes out they have the price jacked way up there. Thanks again! Mike

    HDMI vs. Component Vid

Before I spend the $150 bucks on an HDMI cable, is it really that much better than Component Video? Recently bought the Sharp Aquos which has both connections. Fixin to connect to Cable HD DVR that has both. Thanks, Mike

    Churn and Burn!

168 regular channels, all locals in HD with East and West options, an HD tier of 4 non PPV movie channels, Discovery and TNT HD, a HD DVR, a receiver for an old 13 channel tv in the garage. $56pt a month for the first year! Sweet! Dtv's price would be $75pt a month and $499 for the DVR that may...

    Churn and Burn!

I forgot to mention the "no guarantee" of local channels in HD. I phoned Dtv up, I'm 70 ground miles from the nearest town's antennas. They said no guarantee that you will be getting local channels in HD. Your only option is to pay the $499 for the receiver, sign up for the 2 year HD package...

    Churn and Burn!

I love Dtv but I do not love the $500 for the HD DVR and 2 year HD commitment. My local cable charges zero for the HD DVR, I don't own it, if it breaks I have nothing out of pocket, and they are giving me half price on all services for the first year with no contract! That is another $500 I will...

    Leases have started, experiences?

I had a vision that I most likely imagined in my head that the new lease would be a low monthly payment for the HD DVR as opposed to the cash outlay. A quick call to them today shot that down. The current DVR is $499 after rebate, the same as it was yesterday. The lease is only a new word for...

    HR20-250 Questions

Thanks for the info guys. Reckon I will wait for the HR20 to come out and see what the promotional offers are going on. Good to know I don't have to run any more coax cable. In my house it is difficult to do. If I have to get a new multiswitch that is not a big deal. Thanks again! Mike.

    HR20-250 Questions

Greetings, I have regular D* and Tivo, my old 10 year old tv is finally dying so looking at HD Tv's which lead to looking into D* HD DVR receivers. I read here extensively about the HR20-250 slated to come out in June and have a few questions. 1.) D* appears to be offering the HR10-250...
