    It's been nice ride...

Philo had the linear channels we wanted (mostly Hallmark} for $15 a month after T-Mobile discount. We get good OTA reception, but haven't watched it in months. We've been using Netflix, Prime, and Discovery+ on top of Dish for a while. Just couldn't justify the $98/mo for Dish any more (Flex...

    It's been nice ride...

23 year Dish customer, SatGuys since 2006. Called Dish to cancel today. No retention offer, no questions asked. Took 2 minutes. Thanks to everyone. I've mostly lurked, but have gained lots of knowledge from the great people here. Peace

    Loyal Dish customer longevity

Pretty sure we switched to Dish around 1998, so around 23 years. I remember buying one of the original TiVo boxes and interfacing it with the Dish receiver with the infrared doohickey. Only slightly less reliable than what we have today.

Video breakup on Joey caused by OTA adapter?

I've had this problem for months. I've found that tuning to a couple of different OTA channels before going back to what I was watching will almost always clear up the pixelization. I have one of the DISH dual OTA tuners.

    New Software U549 for Hopper3

Mine has been doing this for months. It's intermittent, usually started by a series of too-rapid button presses. I can usually get out of it by going directly to an OTA channel, pausing, then going directly to a different OTA channel. For some reason this clears things up.

    Hopper 3 channel guide

Or turn on 'Parental Controls' and remove all of the cruft that you don't want to see in the guide. The advantage of this over a favorites list is that free previews will show up in your guide as soon as they are alive, and disappear when they are gone. Just don't forget your PIN.

    Flex Pack total cost, discussion

Snapshot of bill attached. Sweetie wants the Hallmark channels, hence the Heartland Pack. I get locals OTA, but adding the local pack adds $12. I live in Missouri, so the taxes might be slightly different. Bottom line for you: $37.99 + $15.00 + $12.00 + tax.

    New Free Voice Remote

joewhite57 you're looking at the wrong voice remote. Your screen shot above shows the 54.0 remote. It IS $20.00. Look further down for the 54.1 voice remote. It's the one you want, and I can confirm that it is currently $10.00.

DISH introduces Google Nest Hello to the Hopper platform

Finally got the update. Did the connection between Nest and Dish per rickaren instructions. When someone rings the doorbell, a small window pops in the lower right corner of the TV screen with a still picture from the Nest. Response is good, about 2 seconds after the bell rings. It stays on the...

DISH introduces Google Nest Hello to the Hopper platform

I just installed one. You need WiFi to use the camera. It attaches to your existing doorbell wires IF you have a doorbell that uses a 16-24 volt AC transformer. The existing doorbell chime will still work if you install an included little connector dongle in the doorbell chime. You need a...

Dish is very busy anytime you call or chat Why?

"Your call is very important to us". But not important enough to have someone available to answer the phone.

Using Chromecast on a hopper3 to see pictures, etc

No. The plug on the Chromecast is an HDMI plug and you need to plug it into the HDMI port on a TV. The USB only supplies power to the Chromecast.

I think you meant to make sure the SSIDs are different. I don't normally make the passwords different. It's just one more password to remember...

    Hopper3 and router speed

You need to get logged on to your WiFi router with your browser. It's usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. I hope you remembered the username and password. It may be on the bottom of the router. Look for the WiFi setup screen. I have a Tenda router, but you should see something like this...

    Hopper3 and router speed

In my router I can set different SSIDs for the 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands. Just use the appropriate SSID. See if that's possible in your router. The 5GHz band uses more bandwidth per channel than 2.4GHz, so in my house 5GHz is about twice as fast as 2.4GHz. That said, there's a LOT more interference...

    August Update Info

We got 522 on our H3 at 1am on the 31st. I just now heard my wife swear from the living room because Netflix refused to start 3 times in a row. The Netflix logo shows up, but audio from the program that was playing continues. It requires a reset to get things back.

Netflix not working on Hopper 3 - ongoing 8 month old issue

It's much less hassle to just change the TV input to the Roku or Fire Stick and watch Netflix there. We gave up on Netflix on the Hopper months ago. I doubt it has anything to do with internet speed. My Hopper sits right beside my Google gigabit router and is hardwired...

    Dish on 10' BUD anybody?

Back in the early '90s, I worked for a financial company that used real-time stock market data. We got streaming market transactions and news from a bird using a Ku band dish. The vendor provided a 3 foot dish and LNB. It was very susceptible to signal loss during bad weather, and the traders...

Help me out here. ATT has a great 2yr offer - I want to stay but???

Around here, if you buy a bundle that includes telephone and internet from AT&T you do NOT get a POTS land line. You get VOIP through the UVerse modem. There are two POTS jacks on the back that get wired into you home phone wiring. I'm not sure AT&T will even install new POTS lines any more...

    High Desert Reception

If you have line of sight from home to the studio, you might consider one of the high-power WiFi links. Some brands are Ubiquity and SimpleWiFi, but there are lots of others. Once you had connectivity, you could use the FireStick or a plain old Joey. The Joey would carry a monthly cost. If you...

Add/delete packs from your Flex Pack online?

MattG from the DIRT team was finally able to get this resolved. There must have been more old receivers lurking in my account besides the one I still had in a box. As soon as they were all removed, the MyDish Programming menu presented the Flex Pack add-ons. DIRT delivers again!
