    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

It's working OK for me in the NYC metro. 82 looks normal, 91 is a *bit* low but that might be due to a tree on the fringe of my line of sight. Try swapping the LNBs. FWIW I get the highest signal on TP 22 for 82W, and TP 4 for 91W.

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

I figured it out. I accidentally had both dishes locked on the same satellite. Fixed that and now I'm getting 60~75% signal levels from 91W with the 30-inch dish depending on the transponder. That's about the same as I'm getting from 82W with the same size dish. So for posterity, it looks...

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

I'm using the same LNB that was mounted on the stock Bell Dish. I just swapped it onto the Winegard arm which accommodates the same D-mount type LNB. So the LNB, switch and wiring are all the same, I just changed the dish.

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

Ugh, well I thought it would be an easy fix. I installed a 30-inch Winegard DS-2077 today and cannot seem to re-acquire the signal on 91.1W. Is skew adjustment critical when aiming at this satellite? This Winegard dish doesn't provide skew adjustment but I'm not trying to acquire 2 satellites...

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

I was able to nudge the stock dish enough to read the satellite. I guess the signal level meters on my receivers don't start registering anything until they see something in the mid-40's. The highest signal I can get is about 50% though, so I guess I'll need to move to the next size dish up. At...

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

Hmm, well my 91W signal is currently zero with my "stock" 20-inch dish which is still in my system from the old days. Maybe the LNB failed or it's out of alignment. Did the aiming at 91W change a little when they switched over to the new footprint? Guess I'll play with it this weekend and try...

    Bell - 91W Nimiq 6 in NYC

Can anyone tell me what the recommended dish size is to receive 91W Nimiq 6 in the NYC metro area now? For 82W I'm using an 85cm (33 inch) round dish, which is about the smallest that will work here. It pulls in a signal strength of around 65 on the weakest transponder. I never bought a...

Well whaddya know, that actually worked. If only all my problems were so simple. Thanks!

Help - Lost all my HD channels

I seem to have lost some or all of my HD channels. Signal strength is 0 an all transponders on 99(c), 99(s) and 103(c). Bad LNB? Or maybe more than one bad one? My DirecTV contract is up pretty soon, in February, and I have no hardware insurance coverage. Am I better off trying to fix...

    Aiming BEV - New York

OK I found it. I had to raise the elevation and go a little farther east. Now I'm pulling in anywhere from 72% on my best transponder (15) all the way down to 52% on my worst (9). Again, that's with a 33-inch (80cm) dish in the NYC metro, so I doubt anything smaller would work very well for...

    Aiming BEV - New York

I'm using a 9241 HD PVR so should be able to see the 8PSK. I used a level to set the mast but I'll play a little more with the elevation this evening in case that's it, thanks.

    Aiming BEV - New York

Actually I tried pulling it both directions just to be sure, and also tried tweaking the elevation a bit. Should they both be at the same elevation? I can't understand why I'm not able to get a lock on 82 at all with this 33" dish when I'm getting a 45% lock on the same transponders with...

    Aiming BEV - New York

Yes it is, I keep locking into "Wrong satellite - 91". I can't seem to catch 82W, even on transponders 6 and 15 which are getting 45% signal on the old 20-inch dish, so I should at least be able to do better than that with this new 33-inch dish. 91 blasts in at 95% as the wrong...

    Aiming BEV - New York

I just picked up a Fortec 33-in dish and dual LNB today so it sounds like I made the right choice. I plan to put it up tomorrow, so I hope it works for me as well as it does for you. Thanks for the update, buckspaul.

    Aiming BEV - New York

Bell 9241. Also tested on a Bell 5900, but I understand non-HD receivers like that one may not show signal strength on the 8PSK transponders, true?

    Aiming BEV - New York

I'm looking for any updates on this. Is it possible to get 82W stong enough for 8PSK reception in the NYC metro now? I know I can't get it with my 20-inch two-LNB ExpressVu dish. I'm getting about 45% signal strength on TP 15 & 16 but I think they're still carrying SD channels...

Non toll-free PPV order line for ExpressVu?

I actually tried doing that with my Onesuite account, by calling Onesuite's Toronto access number. Unfortunately it wouldn't let me call a toll-free number. I'm surprised AT&T puts your calls through to 800 numbers...do they bill you for them? Anyway I got somebody back in Canada to put the...

Non toll-free PPV order line for ExpressVu?

Thanks but that was BEV's main number and it doesn't seem possible to get into the automated Pay-Per-View ordering system through it. There's a toll-free 866 number in Canada to get into this automated PPV phone ordering system. What we need is the corresponding non-toll-free number that...

Non toll-free PPV order line for ExpressVu?

I've never ordered a PPV program on ExpressVu before but I missed the Survivor finale after watching the entire rest of the season, and I see BEV is repeating it all day as a PPV. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to be available to order online, and I'm out of the country so I don't think I can...

Ruling Delayed at FCC Meeting today....though probably not for long

As a former DXing enthusiast I have to say the appeal is pretty much gone for me. Most of what you hear on AM radio at night these days is brokered infomercials, pay-to-pray religion and syndicated talk programming. For distant listening, Internet radio provides a far more interesting variety...
