I had this problem about a week ago. It only seemed to happen to me on TNT HD channel. Other channels were ok. Using HR10. It only lasted a couple of hours. Also I was running 1080i.

Don't think you can get one from D* anymore. Best bet is to find a used one off ebay or some online retailers.

I agree Hobo. I sent one saying I a Direct customer but wanted them to keep the Dish distants as this will eventually roll over to Direct. Also stated that this is the only option for some people, mainly in rural areas.

After rereading your post. Do you mean you aren't picking up High Def Channels but just Standard Def? If that's the case, then yes you will need to subscribe to HD through Direct. Also if you don't have one, you'll need at least a 3 LNB Dish.

From what I have read, you are required to keep the service for 30 days or they will charge an early termination fee. Remember these are called premium channels not pay per view.
