I am considering bailing as well. The DirecTV whole house DVR would solve the annoyances my wife and I go through setting three separate DVRs for shows. If my cancellation fee is under $200, I'm out. NatGeo was the last straw.

Alright folks, I'm sure this has been answered in this huge thread, but I will ask anyway. I have paid the $39 fee for my vip 211. Works fine. I just got a 750gb drive for my vip 722, hooked it up, and got the message to call dish to activate. So, does the $39 fee cover JUST the 211 or...

Got mine working. Rigged up, but I don't care. It's a bare external drive with a SATA kit. Works great and was dirt cheap (drive was lying around, the connector was $10). Can't see it and it works like a champ. Good enough for me!

I'm sure this has been answered, but is the activation per drive? As in if I activate it now on my 211k and decide to put a larger hard drive in 3 weeks from now, do I have to "re-pay" the $39 fee?

So are we 100% sure this works on the vip211k? I sure hope so b/c the installer is here right now and I told him to put the 211 in the bedroom and put the 722 tv2 to the kitchen. If we can't record on an external HDD in the bedroom, my fiancee will kill me.

NGHD is the only reason I have the Gold HD package. Seconds from disaster is a great show. I record all of them (along with many other great programs). The channel is what TLC used to be before it became the fashion channel.

In looking at your photos, I really think you could get away with a 61.5, 110, 119 setup. My tree cover looks thicker than that and I get over 80 sig strength on all 3 sats. I would demand an installer try. It took me two...the first guy gave up almost instantly. The second guy was confident...

Yeah, I got it today as well, watched it, then deleted it. If anyone thinks this spam is too much, don't get a Tivo. Unwanted stuff appears on it all the time. I don't mind this, however. Not a big deal unless it gets excessive. My day wasn't too terribly disrupted by this :p

I agree as well. Honestly, National Geographic HD was one of the main reasons I got Dish over Comcast or D*. Well, that and the fact that Dish is the only provider that carries it (Comcast in my area doesn't). It's an awesome channel. I just wish we had The History Channel and Court TV in...
