    Netflix Raises Fees for Blu-Ray...AGAIN!!!

I'm on my 2 week free trial, but I am totally satisfied. I just got a new 50" plasma and a Blu-Ray player as well a a Roku set top box. Yes, my Netflix is $2 more for the 1 dvd out at a time, but as it stands now I can get up to 3 dvds a week since they go from the post office in my city to...

New Poll: Where are you going?

A couple of days ago I got my LG LST 4200A HD ota receiver. I pulled the plug on Voom on Friday night and I will not even watch it this last day. Today I called and cancelled cable. So no cable bill, no Voom bill. I am enjoying fewer channels, but they are free and I am actually watching a...

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

I am going strictly ota post-Voom and so 66.6% of my channels will be HD, although that is really only 4 out of 6 stations.

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

Well now there are only 4 days and a few hours left. I never realized or appreciated the extensive technical expertise that the posters here possess. Keep up the good work because we need something to smile about.

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

I'm glad to be of service, but no need to stop on my account--there are still 6 or so days still left. I wouldn't turn down a working ota receiver even if I am getting another one. Maybe the receiver will still work if they plasmorize the reflective tribblewonky. Or maybe that is why it may...

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

Ok. It is interesting to read some post that they are sure it will or will not work for whatever reason they cite. It's a moot point for me since I do not intend to depend on it. So either it will work, or it won't work, or it will work for awhile, or it will work for some, but not for others...

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

That's a reasonable answer. So how about a simple yes, no, or maybe? It does not really matter to me because I am getting another receiver. I guess what is funny is the absolute certainty that some post that it will or will not work.

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

I'll take your word for it that the receiver will receive ota. It has been amusing reading the "yes it will, no it won't" posts here for the last few weeks and longer. Along with the in depth explanations as to why it will or will not work. Most people probably want a simple yes or no. In...

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

This is why I am grateful I will have an LG 4200A HD receiver next week so I can get my ota channels regardless of what happens to the Voom receiver.

    OTA STB Time Bomb?

This is why I have already ordered a new HD ota receiver. I have no intention to put my faith in an unsupported receiver that might or might not work. As far as a definitive answer goes, when in the last 4 months have we ever had a definitive answer about anything other than the most recent...

VOOM Fade to Black and Farewell: T-Minus 9 Days and Counting...

Amen to that. I made that decision a week before Voom announced its shutdown. Voom's future constantly being up in the air allowed me to do some serious thinking about my tv viewing. My personal decision is that I watch too much and pay too much. I have ordered an LG 4200a HD ota receiver...

Voom Box is DEAD and no OTA

I see that the same old will it work/will it not work/ will Voom send a kill signal for ota debate is still going on. Considering how things have gone the past few months with Voom, why should they definitively let us know about this now? After all, there are about 10 left until shutdown. As...

May 1st where will you be? Dish, Cable or DirecTV?

I, too, subscribed to Voom last May. At that time I had a hdtv for a year and a half without any hd. I bought the set specifically for the improved picture quality to watch dvds as compared to my old analog set, NOT to watch hd. So renting a hdtv in order to receive hd content might be a good...

I am going with Cable, what about you.

It is a wonderful theater. I have a 25 year old niece that I took there when she was 3 and she would talk about how she though there was a princess inside the doorway atop of the stairs attached on each side of the theater inside. All kids are entralled by it since it has "character", unlike...

Anyone recording for posterity? In hidef?

Hd programs that I have recorded on my Panasonic dvd recorder look great, nearly hd. I had recorded Silence of the Lambs when it was first on and my recording of Help! looks as good as the one I bought. I have also recorded some Equator, Rave, and DiscoveryHD, along with some from Monsters.

I am going with Cable, what about you.

I am almost going that far, living with 5 ota stations. I am looking forward to watching more dvds and enjoying some visits to a movie theater I went to as a kid which is only 2 miles from me and a nice stretch of the leg in good weather. It was built in the 1930s and is just plain neat...

Anyone recording for posterity? In hidef?

Actually, a couple of months ago when it looked like Voom might end I started recording some Voom stuff for myself, just to remember it, knowing I probably will not see it again.

May 1st where will you be? Dish, Cable or DirecTV?

Fortunately, for me, I decided to leave Voom a week before their announced shutdown. I was going to stick around for another month and that turns out to be all she wrote for everybody. I put up a Channel Master 4228 antenna to get my NBC station that the Voom installer said I would not get and...

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

I think I will stick with my original premise. People see hdtv all the time at places like BB and CC and they can see that it looks better, but if they are not in the market for a new tv and are satisfied with the programming they now have, then I cannot see them just shelling out hundreds of...

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

This is exactly where I was for nearly 2 years before I got Voom. I had a hdtv for viewing my dvds, specifically, I bought it for the release of the first Lord of the Rings movie. I knew about hd, but I was satisfied with what I had. With Voom I could get nearly all of the sd channels I...

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

It will work, it won't work--evidently, the most baffling and unanswerable question of our time. Ultimately, it cannot be both. It can work for awhile, then not work, but in the end it will need to be one or the other. As for me, I am not going to count on an unsupported receiver to get my hd.

CNET.com: Death of Voom: we just weren't ready

This article was spot on. My family, friends, and coworkers are mostly working class people and none of them have hdtv or plans to get one. Although one of my friends is a graphic artist and probably has nearly $10,000 of computer and av equipment at home, his family still watches tv on a 10...

Where are all the VOOMERS Going?

I am going with free hd ota only. I started cutting the cord last Monday when I cancelled VaVaVoom and I have not missed it. I was intending on cancelling Voom in a month or so, but that is a moot point now. I am also not counting on the Voom receiver for ota--I'll get my own, an LG 4200A. I...

    Voom should enable OTA permanently!

I've decided that I am not going to count on Voom's receiver to keep working after the 30th. In a couple of weeks I will get myself the highly rated LG 4200A and so I won't depend upon an iffy ota receiver that cannot be updated, ugraded, or supported. If it works fine, if not, well I'm...
