    Qualify as a new customer?

Actually, not exactly new even after you've left 4-5 years. They cannot allow you to sign up without commitment. If you had dish many years ago and you wanted them again, they insist on 18-months minimum. For true new customer, they will allow you to sign up without commitment and you pay...

**Should I return to DISH?? LOTS of questions!! Please help!!**

Wait a minute.. if you are returning customer (even after 6 months), they won't let you go with No Commitment - There is a MANDATORY 18 months commitment to get the free receiver (actually leased). Dish Store says this on their web site. Only new customer 1st time customer can get that deal.

    Charter Self-Install ?

They won't let me do self-install even though I am pretty good with computers and networking and I already got my cable modem connected. After arguing with Charter CSR, they said they still have to do truck roll and pay their staff out to service me. There is no running away from that $49.95...

Watching Show While Recording via ViP622

Sigh. that's too bad. As a side note... is this technically correct?: Regular SD programming is broadcasted at MPEG2 quality. that takes up 1Gb of drive space for every one hour. HD programming is broadcasted in MPEG4 quality. that takes up 10Gb of drive space for every one hour.
