Thanks JSheridan, I looked through but did not find that thread. Also called Dish and they said it is a known problem they are working on and hope to have fixed soon. Where have we heard that before? All in all OTA tuners work very well other than this recording problem.

Tech installed new 1000.2 dish solving the problem of even having to use the DPP 44 switch, one less thing to have problems with. Slightly larger dish is providing higher signal strength also. So next I will call either Dish directly or try a local retailer to upgrade to the Hopper.

It seemed to, it counted down doing 38 checks. I was not watching when it finished. I looked up and it was back to the Total Signal Loss screen. I thought it odd that if it was truly not working why it would be doing the check switch routine.

These stories are the reasons I have done all my installs myself. I have always used RG6Quad with high quality connectors. If something goes wrong I can only blame myself and then go out and fix it right.:)
