    4K resolution problem

im asking this for my son who just had an HS17 install last weekend. I went to 105 and there was a banner that said this tv doesn’t support 4K so the program was in 1080P. I went to settings and under Diplay-TV resolutions, 4K was unchecked so I checked it and it acknowledged that the tv did...

    4K

Maybe thats whats hooked to the other mini thats in the same bedroom as the modem and router.Coax comes out of the floor into a splitter. one out goes to the mini and the other goes to the little box with 3 green lights that the ethernet cable goes out to my router. So maybe if I move the HR54...

    4K

Well I tried swapping out the locations. both the dvr and the mini only had power HDMI and coax. the mini saw the tv as 4k compatible but the hr54 couldn't find the satellite. Im now assuming the coax line coming into the living room is carrying the signal from the dish so until there is more...

    4K Programs

It was mentioned in one of the many articles I went through. Probably has a lot to do with Comcast and NBC being partners. I know I got the equipment to do it I just don’t know if it’s worth th hassle moving things around for one channel of programming especially if there’s no Olympic coverage...

    4K Programs

I have already seen on other sources that there will be no 4K for the Super Bowl so now I’m wondering about the Winter Olympics. So far the only outlet with a firm commitment seems to be Comcast. Directv and Dish are listed as possible but no commitment. Has anyone heard any different? Right now...

    4K

OK Upon further review, the HR54 in the Living Room only has power supply, coax and HDMI hooked to it. The mini in the bedroom close to the router has all the splitter, power thing and ethernet connections. The second mini in Bedroom 2 only has power, coax and HDM So I'm thinking if I just...

    4K

OK I have 2 c61 minis and the account has 4k activated (free). I just need to know if all I need to do is unplug everything from the back of the HR54 and move it to a room with a mini and plug it in there. The mini is simply power and HDMI. the HR54 has some other stuff in between the coax and I...

    4K

Just got a 4K Tv and a while back I was told I had 4K compatibility at no extra charge but the “main” DVR didn’t do it but both Genie units will. Am I correct in assuming I can just unplug the main DVR and move it to another room and take the mini and hook it to the 4K TV by only plugging it to...

    Recording problem

I’ll try setting it up again with 3 and 3:30. I know in the past if the manager on a show was set to “all” then it would record all episodes, even duplicates. I would be glad to record all 3 then she could delete the mislabeled repeat at 12:30 if she’s already seen it.

    Recording problem

our local station has Judge Judy on at 12:30, 3, and 3:30 daily. The 12:30 description is always wrong, stating that it is a new one but it is not. The 3:00 description is identical and is the right show. If I set to record first run, it records 12:30 and skips 3:00 so my wife misses the new...

DirecTV has crazy retention deals right now

I went from 123 down to 70 a month just calling the # that showed up on FaceBook two weeks ago. They have since shut that # off. It went straight to Loyalty/retention. I didn't threaten to leave or anything. Just asked if i could get in on the deals I'd been hearing about. I keep all the same...

    Retention offers are worse.

I keep premiums on a seasonal basis like Starz for the Pirates and showtime for Ray Donovan etc. Nearly every time I call to drop one after the show ends, they always seem to offer some sort of discount or two for one deal. HBO is the smart one of the bunch cause there never seems to be a time...

    Major DIRECTV Outage?

From what I vaguely remember from my C band days, the solar outages would occur about the same time for a couple of days and I could bump the dish right or left and still keep a bit of a signal. The old OnSat Magazine always had a warning of when they might occur. Had it been solar related I...

No Offers For Long Time Customer

There used to be a thing around the anniversary of your signup date that I got for maybe 3 years then they stopped it. Seems like i got Starz-Encore free for a while one time then Showtime. The last one I got was sportspak for 3 months which happened to be Jan-March so only good for hockey and...

    Rain Fade.....Any Bigger Dish Solutions?

That has been my experience the last couple of years. Rain fade was terrible with the older dish and receivers but I don't seem to see it near as often with the Genie and Slimline....I don't have scientific data to back it up it just seems like its much better than it used to be.

The DIRECTV gods must not want me to cancel Showtime...

The only thing that really keeps me from going this route is the uncertainty of internet connections at times. And the uncertainty of whether or not the ISP may cap or throttle the data in the future. When I weigh that with the fact that my DTV barely even waivers in the rain anymore then they...

The DIRECTV gods must not want me to cancel Showtime...

Back when Apple announced HBO NOW for AppleTV, I called in to tell them I was gonna drop HBO since I could get it free the first month and cheaper than their price the rest of the year. She wound up giving me HBO for 3 or 6 Months for 5.00 a month. Now that Showtime has launched the same type...

FTC Charges DirecTV With False Advertising

I have been with them since 2001 and it was made clear to me that the promotional price would roll off at the end of the first year and every single time that I have added or upgraded a box, they have told me over and over and over again that this will trigger another 2 year contract. There has...

$50 Rebate for New HBO Subscribers

If my figures are correct, anyone out there paying DTV full price for HBO pays 215.88 a year. HBO Now will cost on AppleTV (with the first month free) the first year 164.89 a savings of around 50 bucks. I would almost guarantee that anyone in good standing could probably talk DTV into HBO for...

    Genie + 2 DVRs

Well not only did the real directv dude fix this last install, he went back to the dish and fixed stuff that the original HD dish installer had wrong. Dish wasn't grounded and the pole it was on was not in concrete. All that is right now and he even installed all the stuff needed for me to have...

    Genie + 2 DVRs

A real directv tech here now. What I thought was an 8 switch turns out to be a splitter. He also put in the wrong power inserter. I was watching the morning news when the guy pulled up this morning and the genie started freezing up on live tv so there is an outside chance he may swap the 34 for...

    Genie + 2 DVRs

Well it is definitely an 8. I called the installer back and lo and behold he does not do work for Directv any longer. So I called DTV this morning and someone is coming out tomorrow to fix it. Funny thing though is this installer had sent some sort of serial # that indicated a swm 16 had been...

    Genie + 2 DVRs

Yea during the install he asked which bedroom dvd was used the most as he would set it up with two tuners. After setting up the HR24 with 2 then went to the 21 and it specifically said on the menu only one swm tuner available. So if I go out and look at the switch that the dish goes into and all...

    Genie + 2 DVRs

This ain't a real big deal to me but last week when I ordered the Genie, the CRS seemed to think I would be able to record 9 things at once. When it was installed on Sunday, the installer had me make choice of which DVR would only have one tuner as the limit was 8. 5 on the genie 2 on hr24 and 1...

UNEXPECTED RESULT RECORDING REMAINDER OF SHOW IN PROGRESS

Yea thats the way it works. Entire show will be buffered and recorded. The only way to record just the last 30 minutes or so would be to change the channel at 10:30 or earlier. I prefer to do that during a commercial break. That would "flush" the first 90 minutes from your buffer and the next...
