Get OTA antenna to stop paying for local channels...help

A little off topic but .... almost 10 yrs ago I posted that I thought a viable sat tv business model would be to provide only "cable" channels via sat and better integrate ota. This could save a lot of money and complication (1000 less channels, less sats, no spot beams, etc). Maybe then the...

Get OTA antenna to stop paying for local channels...help

If I drop locals will the OTA channels still have tv guide info on a 722 receiver?

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

As far as I know, it only supports 1 ota channel with the usb adapter, but I'm not positive. Doesn't matter, I have no reason to upgrade. I'm done talking to Dish, hopefully for a long time. Also, WOOHOO, I now have 1 like, thanks Hall !

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

I have a huge VHF only antenna and an 8 bay for UHF. I set this up to receive the low power digital ota's back when they first became available. Now that everything is up to normal high power, I get 2 dma's with a noticably better picture quality than the same channel on Dish. All network stuff...

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

Just to let you know what happened, if you’re interested. 3 times Dish sent me a refurb 722 non K that I sent back. One time they sent me a 722 non K and an OTA module that only fits a K. I finally gave up and bought a used K. They claim it is “impossible” to specify a K, however last year...

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

Thats a good option too. I never tried locally I just tried to update my order but they said it was too late, already been shipped. I guess I'll wait until the box shows up and see whats inside.

That sounds like a great idea. I'm going to try that.

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

Thanks for the replies. I actually asked them something similar to this "There is no way to order a specific receiver, only a class of receiver(in your case the 622 family)." I asked "Why is that any different than getting a 612 or 311 or whatever, they are different models" And the DIRT...

DIRT says its impossible to order 722K, you may get a 722 non K

My 722 hard drive failed. I want to replace it with a 722K. Dish chat says no problem and then sends me a 722 non K. I contact DIRT through twitter (which actually worked very well, so bonus pts for Dish), he says they can't specify 722 or 722K, you just get whatever they have in stock. Is this...

Is it possible to suspend service on 1 of 2 receivers

Thanks for the reply's. And that is kinda what I thought would be the answer but it was worth asking. 3 months times $17 is $51. I won't go bankrupt over it but its still wasted money. I quit owning my receivers after I moved up to the 722's. Dish makes it expensive to own the receivers so I...

Is it possible to suspend service on 1 of 2 receivers

I have 2 receivers and would like to suspend service on one of them for a couple months while I remodel. Is that possible? Will they make me send the receiver back? Or can I just keep it and then re-sub it when I'm ready? Thanks in advance for any advice

How Do I Sell My Old 522 Receivers ?

I may be interested in one of them. What do you want for it? Do you know what the monthly fee is for a 522 as a 2nd receiver?

    Spotbeams on 61.5

I may have some of this wrong but I think it goes like this....the smaller spots are from the original Cablevision maps and/or fcc data. But that was conservative and the bigger spots are more realistic. That or somehow more power was added to the spot beams, if that is possible. I'm not sure on...

    Spotbeams on 61.5

On this map Buffalo is not included in the spot http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/index.php?search=dn61&sub=true&sort=BEAM&order=&beamMap=E12_SB4.jpg But on this map Buffalo is on the red line http://sites.google.com/site/satkml/home/echostar-12-61-5w-e04-washington-dc Since Buffalo is part...

    Spotbeams on 61.5

I understand this. I don't have a dish pointed at 61.5. I'm on 110 119 129. If the 61.5 spots moved say, 100 miles ENE, I probably could get that spot beam without much trouble, maybe a 30" dish would do it. If they only moved 25 miles or the movement was more to the NNE, I'd probably need at...

    Spotbeams on 61.5

Can anyone estimate how much this spot beam has moved to the NE? Is it actually NE or more ENE or NNE? Thanks in advance for any educated guesses. http://www.satelliteguys.us/thelist/index.php?search=dn61&sub=true&sort=&order=&beamMap=E12_SB13.jpg

Dish size vs dBw (new spot maps are great)

First off, the new spot beam maps are awesome!! Excellent work. Thanks to those who helped put this together. What size dish will I need to pull in a 40 dBw signal? I know I've seen that info around here somewhere but I can't find it. Thanks

Just got the $10/month Platinum charge removed...

I just did it and it worked great. I had the DVR package and gold hd. I went to "change programming" under my account. Turned off gold hd, went 1 page forward (i think it was review order), then 1 page back, gold hd was gone, I selected platinum, paged forward again. Same exact price as before...

    Problems with Milwaukee HD locals

I don't know what your specific problem is, but you could try to get either Green Bay or Milwaukee OTA, but you probably need a roof top antenna for either one, or just go with Green Bay locals from Dish.

    Annoying problem !!!!

My 722 did it a few times. I re-scanned locals to get it to work again. Didn't think about trying to reset. It did it 2 or 3 times a month ago and has not done it since.

    Another Programming Dispute

I totally agreee with that. I was one of those first rural customers. My locals were not on Dish then. But I was able to get NY and LA which were better than my locals anyway. Let me take 1 more stab at making my point. Most of the complexity of Dish is because of LIL. Look at 118.7 as one...

    Another Programming Dispute

Dish network is not your only choice in Brooklyn. And I never said the rural population was insignificant. I grew up in a white area. I had a 50 ft tower, a monster channel master antenna, rotor and amps to get 3 channels. I understand that problem. Plus I've been with Dish for over 11 yrs...
