MPEG4 will look very similar, maybe a little better. Anyway it will not be true HD.

What resolution will the HD locals be in?

OTA should always be the best way to deliver HD locals. As a retailer and installer I've seen everything. Trust me, keep your antenna- I am.

    OTA HD versus E* HD

Being a retailer that also does a lot of antenna installs I can guarantee you that the OTA picture is much better than sat HD. The sat signal is compressed more than the antenna signal [90% of the time].

How many of you are using an LCD?

I sell LCD's and love them. Customers love the sharp picture and the 160 degree viewing angle. Expensive with a good quality 40" running about $4000. Anything over 40" look into DLP sets.

Dish IS watching these 942-280 threads

Being a retailer I was pissed when 280 screwed up my 942. I fired of a email to the VP requesting that he run down to engineering and strangle someone. Must have done it.

Just received word from Erik Carlson that 129 bird missing from point dish screen should be fixed tonight. Don't know about any of the other problems but I bet engineering is working like a one armed paper hanger.

    OTA availability question

Go to atechfabrication.com and click on antennas. The dual setup using Blakes has a long range. A lot depends on your local terrain. I know a guy that gets San Francisco from his house in Georgetown [ in the Sierras above Auburn ] with no problem. That's well over 100 miles. Go to...

    More installer humor. (Grounding related)

Grounding is bull. Can cause more problems than you think. Also your phone lines are more likely to carry a strike than anything else. During storms be sure to disconnect your receiver.
