How about, Shouldn't Dish be proactive enough to make sure their new products have at least all of the basic functions that their previous products? It's not like OTA was just invented.

I posted my point of view because I am having the same issue. I have 2 622s that the HDMI port never worked from day one. Just used Component. Have 2 new TVs so wanted to hook them up via HDMI. Used the Chat feature (so I had a record of the conversation) and jumped through several hoops...

No one should have to PROVE that they own a receiver. Dish should have the burden of proof. If I am leasing a piece of equipment there will be a contract Dish can refer to.

Pretty much all of the existing USB tuners are ATSC/QAM so the chipsets are readily available so what extra money? I assume there are others in areas where OTA is difficult to recieve.

Why is Dish so paranoid about having QAM also with any of their tuners? I have Internet with Cox and get locals and public channels in the clear. Here in San Diego with the mountains it is much easier to get locals via QAM than OTA.

One thing I really dislike about this solution is the delay in the video. Using the remote is really annoying. Don't get me wrong I think Slingbox is great, but not for regular daily use.
