Hmmm... France 24 gone from NSS806?

lost_mesa I too was suprised to find France 24 there, but there it was. The signal was borderline on my 10 footer, but reliable. I'm a bit confused about NSS806 location, in some places it is 40.5 W and others 47.5 - I think I am at 40.5. Maybe I should be calling it SES-6 since I think NSS was...

Hmmm... France 24 gone from NSS806?

Yes, I knew about 58W and the Net stream, thanks, however it was convenient to have a number of stops on the one bird for which I have a stationary dish. Ah well, easy come easy go. I'll keep an eye on it.

Hmmm... France 24 gone from NSS806?

For the last couple months or so I have been enjoying France 24 in Eng and French on NSS806 at TP 3803 V 26860. Now it does not seem to be there any more, disappeared in the last couple of days. Just me? Other usual channels coming in nicely, so I don't think it is a dish tweak issue.

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Yes, checked voltage at the far end of the coax, all good, perishing cold work in the winter wind. I don't know how professionals manage to check installs, fumbling with voltage testers through gloves when the temp goes down to minus 30. Just checked it again and now the LNB is picking up V...

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Hi Brian, thanks for the ref. I have tried two receivers, both output 13 v for V, 18 v for H. I use blind scanning to register my tps; I can force the power scan to select V only and get no channels. Currently I get none for H as well, so I'm concluding that the LNB is at fault.

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Well Armadillo I think you are right, I have a feeling at one time I got a lot more from 103 (ION, Qubo and others) but not any more. I figure I can't do much more until I have a new C-Band LNB to swap out. I checked a few Ontario suppliers but not all that happy with their offerings. Who are...

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Thanks KE4EST, I think I am a bit closer. My receiver is reporting that both 3740 as exists in the my stored list and 3920 are both H polarity but in truth 3740 is V, not H. I have no problem with other satellites V and H so the box is producing the right volts, but I think maybe the LNB is not...

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Yep, checked this multiple times. Tried tweaking the dish, no hint of a signal. Like I say, 3920 is good, signal at 92% screaming at me. 0 on 3740. According to Lyngsat, SES-3 is the only FTA bird that AAN lives on, so must be the right spot in the sky.

    Dying C-Band LNB?

Just can't figure this one out. I'm having a problem getting 3740 MHz on 103W, no signal at all. Neighbour signal 3920 MHz comes in clear as a bell, in fact it is the only signal I can get under Free from 103 at all. Until a week ago I was getting 3740 no problemo. Tried two receivers, same...

Canal Vasco on Hispasat currently black?

Right, I was being tongue in cheek, the channel is mostly in the Basque language, occasionally in the regional Spanish. It's amazing how much you can take in from just the video, but the non-verbal audio effects (laughter, cheers, boos, whistles, other noises) can add to the comprehension and...

Canal Vasco on Hispasat currently black?

Audio is back. Jai Alai is just not the same without incomprehensible (to me) audio. All back to normal. Thanks much for feedback.

Canal Vasco on Hispasat currently black?

Thanks. looks like they are working on it, picture is back but no sound. I wrote them a polite note through the website contact page to report it, but the picture back is probably a coincidence.

Canal Vasco on Hispasat currently black?

Until a few days ago I was getting a good signal from Canal Vasco. Now I see a signal registering but no picture or sound. The Galician channel next door is good and strong with pic and sound, so the dish/lnb/diseqc/cable receiver chain appears to be good. Maybe I'm missing some news that it has...

AMC6 KU looks a bit empty?

Both dishes needed adjustment. The second dish is mounted on a motor, I don't use it a lot, the board it is bolted to had a screw work loose due to a fair amount of high wind we have had, so it too was not correctly pointed, but only just enough not to find the sat. The motor dish was picking up...

AMC6 KU looks a bit empty?

It could be a cat-sized critter clambering over my dish support structure. It's an adventure playground for raccoons, fishers, squirrels, mink, ermine and such. My cat is pretty fat and does not climb on the structure very much, but he has the weight if he were to get twisted up in cable and...

AMC6 KU looks a bit empty?

Guys, your input very helpful. Repointed now coming in strong at 69%. I can tweak it some more. Now I just have to figure out what kind of creature was heavy enough to swing on my cables and dish to twist the dish about 10 deg off line (it was pretty tight) and snap the connector off my diseqc...

Thanks for feedback, I will start from scratch again.

AMC6 KU looks a bit empty?

I'm not picking up any of the usual feeds on AMC6 KU, since about last weekend. Tried 2 different dishes but nothing on either one KU. Maintenance or change of policy by NBC?

Signal issues with 3740 TP on AMC 1

Moved to 10 footer, Coolsat is now reporting 72% with good reception. Edit: so any recommendations for using a now freed-up 6 footer?

Signal issues with 3740 TP on AMC 1

Yes, problems here too. I noticed something changed about 5 days ago, suddenly that TP was very hard to tweak on my 6 footer with a Coolsat 6000 Premium even though signal level at 67-68% which is normally lots of signal. Setting up on spare 10 footer.

PBS ANNOUNCES HIGH DEFINITION FEED FOR BACKYARD DISH USERS

Here's a thought. If the lnb is bang in the centre of the mount but tilted slightly in one direction (as it can be if there is a bit of play in the mount and you only have one tightening bolt, for example), the opening of the lnb viewed from the dish will appear to be oval and not circular. It...

PBS ANNOUNCES HIGH DEFINITION FEED FOR BACKYARD DISH USERS

I'm wondering why this would be the case, that two signals from the same satellite should appear to need a slight tweak to peak them individually? When conditions are ideal, during the day, evenings, dry air etc. both channels come in fine. Problem occurs say in very early morning when the air...

PBS ANNOUNCES HIGH DEFINITION FEED FOR BACKYARD DISH USERS

My experience with the clear channel PBS on my 6 footer is that if I tune for DW-TV clarity then PBS goes weak. If I tune for PBS then DW-TV goes weak. Working on it...

    PCI PCIe

Since most newer boxes these days come with PCIe slots and frequently no PCI slots at all, how are satellite card manufacturers responding, and how do existing PCI owners deal with a box which has no PCI slots?
