Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Update 04/27/07 Ok guys.... just wanted to update all of you again. I got my CM 3016 antenna today and hooked it up. I got a really strong signal on channel 12, my VHF NBC local station. All the rest of the UHF channels came in really well too. I'm very pleased with this antenna. I wish I...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

I've tried re-positioning the 4221 to try and get a signal for channel 12 VHF but it just won't come in. Especially now since the OTA tuner in my Dish 921 is not as strong as the OTA tuner in my Samsung LCD. All I want as far as VHF channels is channel 12 which is my local NBC station. I already...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

I was thinking the same thing and I don't want to waste anymore money on "trying" out a 4228. I'll be picking up a 3016 later tonight if my local Fry's has them in stock. Otherwise I'll be ordering off their website. They've got it for $24.95. Same price I paid for the SilverSensor that I...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Well the signal is fine for my UHF channels. It's the one VHF channel 12 that is weak. But of course we all know the 4221 is not a VHF antenna. The signal has gotten weaker since I last posted but it has been windy the last couple days. I'm gonna try adjusting it a little bit later today when I...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Thanks Ed...!!! My cable coming from my OTA 4221 antenna will eventually be going into my Dish PVR 921 HD receiver. It'll probably happen sometime later this week. I'm hoping the OTA tuner in the 921 is decent. I also noticed this morning that the signal strength coming from my 4221 on...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Update.... 4/16/07 Ok guys... so I got my 4221 late Friday. The UPS guy didn't delivery it til 7:40PM PST. I didn't even think it was going to show up til Monday. I was busy over the weekend so I didn't get it installed til today. I am able to get the VHF channel 12 like I was hoping for. Of...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Will do... The 4221 is due to arrive on Friday via UPS Ground. That's when I'll be doing my install, setting up my sat dish, running cable, etc... Unfortunately the UPS guy in my area usually delivers late in the day, usually around 5pm and sometimes even later. I'll report back here either late...

Newbie Suggestion for OTA indoor Antenna

Newbie to OTA here also.... If your channels are all UHF and pretty much all in the same direction, I'd try the Philips Silver Sensor. Works great for all my UHF HD local stations. My only problem is that my local NBC station is in VHF and at 268 where all my other stations are at 280. I...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

So I was messing around with my Philips Silver Sensor indoor antenna last night. Wanted to see if I could get a signal for the one VHF (NBC) station in my area even though the antenna is only UHF. I tuned my tv to 11.1 (12) and then went into the tv menus to go to the tv's signal meter for OTA...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

The 4221 will be delivered on Friday. And yes, VHF channel 12 is all I want.... all the rest of the channels I want are UHF. I'll go ahead and try the 4221... might as well, I've got nothing to lose at this point.

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Sounds good... thanks for all the info Tower Guy and everyone else. I wish I would've gotten the 3016 to begin with. If anyone needs a 4221... I'll have one for sale... brand new, never used.

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

I still have the Silver Sensor.... I get the UHF channels, but not the 1 NBC VHF channel. I have the Silver Sensor in one of the rooms on the second story. Our attic is only on the first story and wouldn't get as good as reception as the location it's in now. How about a Channel Master...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

So after looking at that graph in your link above, are you still recommending the Square Shooter for my particular channel and location needs...? If not, what would you suggest...?

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Well.... I ordered my 4221 this morning and I should have it by Thursday and I'll be installing it along with my sat dish on Friday. The 4228 is also only UHF but it does get some of the higher channels in VHF. I'm hoping the 4221 will do the same. I only need channel 11(12) in VHF for NBC.

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Well... my OTA antenna will be mounted on a post that'll be cemented in the ground. It'll be a little bit higher than the first story of the house. The attic is very small so it's not an option for me. I'll be ordering my 4221 first thing in the morning. :up

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Yes... there are a lot of the networks here in the Bay Area that broadcast their signals from Sutro Tower on a hill in SF. With that in mind, do you think I'd get good results with a 4221 instead of the 4228....? My house is a two story and I currently have the indoor antenna on the second...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Thanks gdarwin, you were right...!!! Just got home from work.... All I can say is... WOW....!!! Fox is broadcasting the Giants game, CBS has on some golf, and ABC has a soccer game on. They're all broadcasting in HD. CBS has the golf game on in 1080i. I can believe the picture coming from a...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Update.... So I went home for lunch to try out the Philips Silver Sensor indoor antenna that I bought last night at Circuit City. I'm actually pretty impressed to be honest. My Samsang 40" LCD HDTV doesn't have a percentage on it's signal meter, it has signal bars. I think there are about 6...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

LOL... thanks for all the replies and info guys. Sounds like everyone has their favorites. I'll try this Philips indoor antenna that I bought last night. I'm at work right now... went straight to work from my girlfriends house this morning. I'll report back here a little later today with my...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

I just got back from Circuit City a little while ago. I ended up picking up a Philips Silver Sensor PHDTV1. I figure for $24.99 I'd try it out first. If it doesn't work, I'll return it and get a Channel Master 4221 or 4228. I'm still debating about which one to get (4221 or 4228) if the Philips...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Hmmmm.... another newbie question.... Would the 4228 actually give me "too much" signal....? Would the 4221 be a better choice...? Espeically since I'm less than 25 miles away from the broadcasting towers. Will the 4221 also pick up the higher VHF channels like the 4228 does...? I basically just...

Newbie question... need suggestion for OTA HD antenna

Looks like I'll go ahead and order up a Channel Master 4228. I had made a mistake in my original top post. The local towers in my area are at 280, not 180. The one VHF (KNTV NBC) tower is at 268. So only 12 degrees from all the UHF other towers. It sounds like the 4228 should be able to tune...
