The person I spoke with when I called DirecTV had no interest whatsoever in giving me a price reduction on the HD tivo. He wasn't very friendly at all. Did I speak with the wrong person? Was he having a bad day?

$1,000 for a DVR is ridiculous. Just called Directv to check when my contract expires so I can cancel and move on to cable. next month. can't wait.

that's exactly what i am doing. I am keeping my DTV & SD TiVo with the TOTAL CHOICE ($39) and I am getting Voom basic ($39). Of course it would be better/cheaper to have only one provider but since I can't get TiVo+Lots of HD movies from a single provider...

I called DirecTV and was told they have no plans to add more HD channels in the near future. I am not going to sit down am wait until they announce something. I am switching to VOOM, they already have what I want.

Well those are valid points but still - the voom offer is a great deal for the programming I am interested in. If DTV comes through with Cinemax, starz, bravo and a bunch of other new channels I can always cancel Voom and re-subscribe to DTV HD. That is - if the price is competitive.

I am not in your area but I am able to get all Boston local channels with the Terk HDTVi antenna. And the great thing is that I can keep it indoors. And it is a great looking antenna! :)
