    Uplink Activity Report - 1/14/2009 1:02am - 418 changes

I know this is just testing, but I'm hopeful about the Austin locals. I live in a heavily-treed neighborhood with no line-of-sight to 61.5.

Austin, TX HD locals -- need 2 dishes?

Which city did you "move" to?

Austin, TX HD locals -- need 2 dishes?

To "move" you'd need to call Dish and ask to update your service address but keep your billing address the same. The new service address must be a realistic address in a target city of your choice. They CS rep may ask a couple simple yes/no questions, then once the "move" is secured you'll need...

Austin, TX HD locals -- need 2 dishes?

Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston are all among the cities with HD locals on 110. But now Dish is adding most if not all new HD locals to 61.5, presumably due to capacity constraints. Dallas and Houston locals are uplinked at 61.5 too, though not yet available on that sat. Having to add a second...

Austin, TX HD locals -- need 2 dishes?

Well, the installer did come yesterday, but he couldn't get line of sight to 61.5 so no HD locals for me except through OTA. Not too surprising really, as we live in a heavily treed part of south Austin. On a happier note, though, the installer was great and volunteered to see if he could...

Austin, TX HD locals -- need 2 dishes?

Hi Molly, Yes, it's true that if you want Austin HD locals over satellite, you'll have to get a second smaller dish installed so you can "see" the satellite at 61.5. Otherwise the only way to get HD locals thru Dish is via an over-the-air antenna. As for the pricing, some people have been...

DISH is airing inappropriate ads on TV Land

I noticed the exact same thing last night, when sitting down to watch Brady Bunches recorded around a week ago with my 7-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son. Fortunately I had the controller and was skipping through commercials anyway, but my wife and I were shocked to see ads for both the GGW...

    Will you sub to SETA

I took advantage of the free preview to watch some Premiership, rugby, and even hurling. Setanta seemed great, and if it was available in HD I'd consider giving it a shot. But at $15 for SD only programming, it just isn't worth it for a casual fan like me.
