    Cloning EHD

Assuming there is nothing tying the data to the specific disk, dd should do the trick. dd if=/dev/sdX of=myfile.bin Something along those lines would do the trick, but it will probably take quite a bit of time. Ideally, pipe it thru gzip as well to compress it a bit. Edit: No, you don't...

    AutoHop secrets revealed??

It is, but if you break it down - not so much! Lets assume that your typical 30 minute show has 3 commercial breaks, around 3 minutes each (roughly). You need the start and end time for each break. Luckily, they don't usually mess with the commerical timings across airtimes for most content...

    HDCP on premiums

Simple, get an additional box. Add to that any lease / mirroring fees. Also, don't forget a contract and a tech visit. It's ridiculous!

    HD feed in Boston Area

Actually not quite - Dish put up WCBS in place of WBZ. Both O+O's, so no big problem, luckily. WCBS seems to have been put up sometime last night, noon news was New York (double take, wondering why everything looked different for a moment), however 5PM news now is WBZ's.

I found this this morning while trying to visit Dish Support.....?

Those Google warnings can show up for a number of reasons, usually if Google "detects" that the site is doing something bad. Mind you, this is (usually) a rogue ad that ends up using a browser exploit to mess with your system. However, some of the techniques that are used by these rogue ads are...

    Hopper Announcements

Just as funny - spend enough time digging thru the FCC, and you will realize that a handful of companies makes everything, so your $$$$ BD player, uses the same exact hardware as the $50 one, just looks nicer.

    Early Dish Pictures from CES

Thanks on the pictures - one request to anyone at CES. Google TV boxes / TV's. If you can get pictures of the about menu (home -> settings -> about) I'd be grateful. Specifically the Model Number / Build Number! Thanks!

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

There are, but it seems with logitech - its a once a day, if your lucky (more like once a week, or every two, unless there is a quick fix). However, there are reports of people on userdebug getting the update as well, so not sure yet what is up.

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

The interesting note about their post - the pictures a fake, a troll posted it on Logitech's forums. Just a coincidence that the real 3.1 is coming out over the next few days. Quite annoying too, its very obvious that is a 2.1 screen! But, 3.1 beats 2.1 in nearly every account - however, it's...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

Actually, yes - well more specifically, a full nuclear exchange. Of course, depending on where you are, giving a take cover warning may not do you any good (wouldn't do me much good). But, if your out of big cities - it would be very, very helpful. Unless of course, your out in silo valley, then...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

You would think that Dish / Direct would be added in to be higher up on the list (not quite the primary access point), but high enough to remove many of these issues. My first thought is "Just use Dish / Direct as primary sources, let everyone pick up off of them". The giant problems with...

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

That list might be out of date, however I recall somewhere w/ pics of the HBO uplink, with EAS equipment. However CNN didn't run it either, and on the broadcast, they said they would be back after the EAS test, but came right on (no cuts) - so dunno what happened.

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

Aha, found a list, its in the FCC rules - specifically § 11.43 National level participation. The list:

DISH Fails EAS Test? No Perhaps the EAS Test Fails DISH!

Actually some networks (the only ones that jump to mind are Time Warner- I'll try to find the docs) are EAS participants, so they should have cut in (which, many did not) - but it seems there were also failures of many points along the link, which may be a reason as to why they did not.

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

You can't yet, and the main issue is that many android apps use external arm libraries - of course, they will not work on the GTV, at least not without some type of emulator, which is apparently in the pipeline - but if a V2 does come out (hardware wise, that is), which will be arm - it will...

    EAS National Test November 9th

Let alone the facts that the on screen graphic could say contrary to what the audio is saying. Something perhaps (on screen) about this is not a test / a emergency action notification message issued by the president. Yeah, I will admit they could have done a much better job on that PSA...

BB movie pass not showing on vip622

Yeah - I have a 622 here, and it also streams. It's not the fastest, but it beats downloading the entire movie first. It's not listed anywhere that it would (still, Watch in 1hr 20 min), however once you hit rent/watch, within a few seconds you can start playback.

Is the volume level of the Revue itself maxed out? It's in settings somewhere (or, if you don't configure a TV).

SatelliteGuys Review: Logitech Revue with GoogleTV – A Diamond in the Rough

Of note - from what I could tell, its still the old hardware, just with Honeycomb (if you watch the video, the cards near the equipment = the old model numbers). Engadget's headline is just not quite accurate!

Dish Vip Dvr lease fee? Gouging?

I really think, what would make the fees more palatable across the board (yes, when you think about it - they are all too high, for every provider) but especially satellite. Simply put, if Comcast rolls out a new cable box, when they are in stock, I can simply swap it out, at no cost /...

Questions about the new XiP Receivers?

I didn't see it in the past few pages, but did you happen to also check out the XiP110 at the fcc? What I find interesting (although, I'm probably wrong), whats the 8 pin connector on the internal pictures near the right side of the board? I'd guess smart card, but there is no slot / not...
