When will digital/HD Networks come to E* in major markets?

The best HD antennae only can cover 60 miles, so a lot of people are at the mercy of Charlie and his ilk for television of any sort.

    921 Update

If you get one that works, like me, then you are likely happy. And, alternately, if you get one that breaks and start down the refurb exchange route, life can quickly become unpleasant. Even when it is working well the occasional S-T-R-E-T-C-H bug will pop up and I lost the first week of...

    921 is a Disaster!

I don't consider the firewire out recording to be half the "promise" of the 921. And anytime I'm buying something with an input/output for "future use" I immediately see the red warning flag that feature may be dubious to perpetuity. Also boards, such as this, allow the savvy shopper to know...

    921 is a Disaster!

Other than losing the first week of the MLB package, that was paid for  , and the occasional S T R E T C H bug reboot my 921 has worked as advertised and transformed the way I watch Dish for the better. I would say I'm very satisfied. When I read threads about people nitpicking at the...

Do you guys think DISH will release a IRD with active Firewire?

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for a Dish HD with a firewire. The 921 owners already got burned on this. And, if and when one comes out I would wait to see if it actually works too!

    921 and MLB package problem

Thanks for the response, alexbgr, I figure that is why the "advanced support" team hasn't called back in the 24-48 hour window promised...they don't have an answer! :no :no :shocked Just off the phone with the "advanced tech support" and their theory is that the free preview of the MLB...

    921 and MLB package problem

Thanks for the reply, BFG. The weird thing is that this is supposed to be the free preview period, were everyone can see the MLB channels, and I'm paying for them and still locked out. Does anyone know if this is the sort of thing that might get fixed by a Smartcard swap?

    921 and MLB package problem

I have the Major League Baseball package and my 921 shows the package on the paid program list but doesn't allow access to the programming. I had the package last year and the 921 worked fine. Both other receivers in the house both show the package on the paid list and allow the games to be...

    HDTV Picture

My 811 is hooked up to a Sony LCD HDTV and works fine at 1080i connected via an DVI to HDMI conversion cable. There are standards for these DVI input/outputs and just because they call it DISH DVI doesn't mean it is out of spec with the standard. Although, my experience with IEEE-1394 ( aka...

    DVI for 942???

That is pretty cool of them to include that conversion cable, because those can be kind of pricey and hard to find locally. KUDOS TO DISH! Okay, I got a little carried away there. ;)

    still no p285

Yes, no update here either. We have been powering off every night and my dad thinks I'm a bit nuts talking about the "phantom" update.

So I just read the 942 review on dbstalk...

Making the customers on the bleeding edge shell through the nose for the soon-to-be-outdated "latest thing" makes a lot of sense. I think all the electronics companies and technology companies do it. Heck, I payed $1000 for a 921 that is now $549 at the same store I bought it from 6 months...

    Antenna and Preamp problems.

Even the best DTV antennas are not going to be able to pull in stations from the distance that has been mentioned. Go to ChannelMasters or Weingard and look at the specs for even the monster yagis. If it is 150 miles he is well out of range, period. I think he could have a perfected...

    FROM DISH: New 942 Information

The difference would be that a digital tuner hooked up to quality antenna will often yield digital (or even HDTV) broadcasts that are superior, far superior in the case of HDTV, of the same content that a lot of Dish subscribers are paying $5 a month for. I agree that it would be stupid of...

    Why DVR Fees?

I would rather not pay it but it is a service ( so-called video on demand) that is worthy of a fee. Coming from the old DVHS JVC machine to a 921 I am happy to pay so I don't have to shuffle tapes any more. :)

While in the Mall a funny thing........

The guys at Radio Shack, in my experience, know thier inventory better than most places. Try a smaller store rather than the mall-based ones.
