Directv app for Android Tablets (finally ) but ......

On my phone, I use DirecTV Remote Control by JustinJ. It has all of the functions of the D* remote, as well as showing me what's playing on my favorites, and I can use it to control either of my DVRs. On my tablet, I use Cognitial's DirecTV Remote + Volume Test. First, I tried the free...

I don't know if you need to sign up to receive E-mails such as this. I would think that they would send it to everyone that is affected. I probably did sign up several years ago, but, I don't remember. It could be in your profile that you can set it up. I get my bill every month, but I also...

    Oprah Winfrey Network

Just got an E-mail today that included the following: "Effective the week of April 1, 2013, the OWN Network (Oprah Winfrey Network) will only be available on base packages of CHOICE and above. OWN is also scheduled to be launched in High Definition later this Spring." (italics added) So now we...

How can I use one coax for the Dish with sat1 and sat2.

The way I always understood it was that each receiver is assigned a 100MHz channel by the SWM (channel whereby the SWM sends requested program to the receiver). When you select the program you want to watch, the SWM module sends that program to the receiver that requested it. Coax doesn't have...

AGREEMENT REACHED....Possible Sinclair Locals Dispute 3/1/13

Fair enough. Let me rephrase that: My local CBS station is a top-notch station that Sinclair acquired a couple of years ago. I do wish that CBS had maintained ownership.

AGREEMENT REACHED....Possible Sinclair Locals Dispute 3/1/13

My local CBS station is a Sinclair station. A top-notch station, and most of what we watch is on CBS. As others have said, thank Goodness for the AM21. Now, I may have to change my DVR scheduling (that'll be a lot of fun. Too bad you can't just change the channel for a scheduled recording).

Lost Internet Connection on Cinema Connection Kit

Power-cycle the wireless adapter at the receiver (not the router). Often, power-cycling resolves issues with network equipment.

Wife's kinda creeped out. Directv came back to "check" on the installation??

It's not unusual at all. Just Quality Control -- making sure that the installer (especially a contractor) did what he was supposed to and that the customer was satisfied with the work done.

    Direct TV Distribution?

How many outlets are there in the house, and how far from the closet is the furthest one? If not too far, just put a green label 8-way splitter on each output of a SWM8 and leave all of the outlets connected. As long as you don't exceed the 8 tuner limit, you should be fine. That way, no...

What day do you record the most programs from locals?

It used to be Thursdays, but since the cancellation of one of my shows, M-Th all have the same number. On second thought, it still is Thursdays. Wish I could change my vote.

    2 DVR question

What they said. You just get 1 big list. It does indicate which DVR the recording is stored on, though. Unfortunately, when you press record, you do not get to choose which DVR you want to record to. It will always record on the local DVR.

purpose of coax/ethernet connected home adapter?

No, you don't need DECA for those capabilities. I do it that way as well. My response was to the last line in a previous post (which I had quoted), which read "Only interaction with the router is to access data from the internet." I took that to mean VOD, YouTube, Pandora, and interactive apps.

purpose of coax/ethernet connected home adapter?

And to enable you to control your receiver(s) with your tablet or smartphone, or schedule recordings remotely.
  20. E

purpose of coax/ethernet connected home adapter?

I apologize that I left you confused. The monthly charge is for the Whole Home DVR service only. There is no monthly charge for the DECA unit in and of itself.
  21. E

purpose of coax/ethernet connected home adapter?

The purpose of the DECA equipment is to make them some money. As you know, all it does is put the ethernet connection on coax. But, since it doesn't make them any money other than the monthly service fee, they won't support that type of setup. Since your service is already active, though, you...

Adding a second TV - any tips?

Get a second DVR for the other TV. That will let you record up to 4 programs simultaneously (two per DVR). If you have MRV, you can watch either playlist from either TV.

The OP need not do anything at all. However, if he wants to have the interests of current and future residents in mind, he should take all things into consideration. Nobody wants to be forced to get their service through one provider and one provider only. Sure, OTARD says the building's...

Pull in an RG11 cable from ground floor electrical closet to the top floor electrical closet. That will be for the local CATV company, enabling them to provide service for those that prefer cable over satellite, as well as cable internet. It would also be a good idea to pull in another RG11...
