    anttenna / sat combiner

DTV needs an answer to the OTA input on the HR-21. I had to go to an OTA antenna to get one of my local channels in HD (a LIN-TV greedy station), and I cannot record it in HD. Unacceptable. I am giving WISH-TV in Indy and LIN-TV a lot of nasty-grams right now. It probably won't do anything...

WISH-8 CBS affilliate in Inianapolis hurting consumers

That's my concern, at this point. I can run an OTA antenna into my TV (and will do so this week), but I can't record that HD reception without the OTA input on the HR21. Stooopid DTV move. I can still record in SD, and I'm very tempted to build a PC-based DVR, anyway - if I can find an HD tuner...

WISH-8 CBS affilliate in Inianapolis hurting consumers

I have an HR-21-700 receiver, no OTA input. While I have plenty of inputs on my TV for an OTA antenna, I won't be able to record anything until D* offers a solution. LIN can kiss my Hoosier arse. I hope their stock tanks and the guys responsible for this greed are unemployed for Christmas. I...

How to Activate DIRECTV on Demand with HR20-700

I have an HR-21. The keyword search didn't work. Anyone have any hints? Is this even available on anything other than the HR20-700 yet?

WISH-8 CBS affilliate in Inianapolis hurting consumers

Nope, I live within the circle, SE of Indy in a surrounding county. Interesting to learn about LIN. I am writing the NFL, I would suffer NBC to have the AFC games rather than be held hostage. I appreciate the take on DTV, they've obviously paid everyone else's fees. I'm so ticked off right now...

WISH-8 CBS affilliate in Inianapolis hurting consumers

And DirectTV is not helping. While all the major locals come in as HD via the satellite, WISH-8 is the exception. The fact that CBS has the AFC games for the NFL has them holding consumers hostage, asking for much more money than DirectTV has paid other local affiliates for these rights. I am...

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

Too late for me, I had to cut out some drywall in my garage, and they just ran 4 new runs of coax. The advantage is that I was able to locate the satellite in a better location from an asthetic perspective, since we had to run the coax from a new location. The installers are pretty good folks.

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

Holy crap! Does DTV get kick-back from coax manufacturers? Sounds like I'm definitely going to need to have additional runs made... damnit, they need better technology.

Which receivers have remotes with RF

No problem with me, our receivers are within 20 feet of viewers, with no walls in between. This isn't a bad thing.

How to Activate DIRECTV on Demand with HR20-700

While I'm still learning the satellite technology, computer/network security is my day job. If not in use, shut it off. If in use, enable encryption/authenticaton via WPA-PSK (better than WEP) and disable SSID. You absolutely can get P4WN3D even with the SSID not being broadcast. The SSID is...

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

I get your point, and I tend to agree. After dumping Dish largely due to piss-poor customer service and incompetent accounting, we found that we enjoyed still having local weather during the same severe storms that faded out satellite reception. Big deal in the Midwest. However, this does give...

Which receivers have remotes with RF

Does the HR20 still support IR remote? I've got a Logitech Harmony that I absolutely love, but it's a low-end model that doesn't support RF.

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

First, thanks for everyone's help so far. I did some searching, and it looks like I'm not going to need an OTA antenna - I live in the Indy area and it appears that DTV has HD broadcasts of my local channels, at least the ones that matter. I guess my big question at this point is - with an...

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

I have three coax runs from outside the house coming into the wiring closet. There is AC power and a distribution panel that has runs: 2 RG6 to the HD TV 2 RG6 to one SD TV 1 RG6 to one SD TV It sounds like no matter what else I do, I'm going to have to have a 3rd coax run to the HD TV. I'm...

Need Help quick - Coax question, installer coming tomorrow

I am dumping cable for DTV. I am, however, keeping my cable modem. I am getting an HR20 receiver in one room, and two standard receivers elsewhere in the house. Definitely high def in the one room, and the need for local channels. I have the On-Que wiring terminal in a server closet (yes, I am...
