I recently helped two friends set up their 211 receivers for ota recording. Both have a large home antenna with signal quality 85-100. Both have had EHDs installed for a long time and working properly. I also hooked up our 211k in our RV for ota recording and we too have had an EHD for a long...
Just called AAD and since we are "former" customers its just a matter of reactivating our former account. If you're not a former AAD customer you will most likely have to requalify for DNs which means a bit of a wait before they are activated. Thanks for nothing Dish.....
He most likely was in an RV with an inverter wired to his house plugs for when there is no 120V available. Quite common in the larger RVs. In any case, the 211 will NOT run 12 volts DC but even a small 100 watt inverter will run it just fine.
Thanks much for the explanation. Oh, and I meant CONUS beams that the tailgater could receive 110, 119 and 129. I should have been more specific. Was not aware that they also worked with the Eastern arc sats too. Thanks again.
Was just looking at the Dish for my RV page and reading about Dish's Distant networks. They want you to buy a tailgater antenna and a vip211k receiver which will get 110, 119 and 129 sats yet they put the East Coast HD and the West Coast SD distant networks on a 72 degree sat? That doesn't...
i just tested our new tailgater this morning. Info screen on it just says L552. There are no other characters after it. It fired right up and we had signal and picture on all three sats. You may have gotten an interem version which hopefully will update to L552 soon.
I was also wondering about being able to get distant networks from Dish for the 211k when using the tailgater. I kind of doubt it since it would be on the same account as the subscribers H/J.
It sure would be great to have an option to receive software updates and guide updates either over the air or via ethernet. I suppose its more trouble than its worth for Dish.
Yes it does but it just sees one at a time. It switches satellites when it needs too and does so very quickly so that there is no long delay when you switch to a channel on another sat.
Mark_AR love your idea re hand over middle lnb. Simple effective solution to making sure you're on 119. Just bought a new 1000.2 and 211k that we will be taking camping and will try your method for sure. Never had any problems with our 311 and dish500 and I'm thinking the 1000.2 won't be much...
I still think the separate RV account could just be as simple as setting up a separate account number for your RV receiver and just activating your existing programming to it. There should be no need to buy the same programming you aleady have twice just to get distant networks.
I'm still confused regarding the second account. As an existing customer if you want to take one of your user owned 211s and just use it in your RV and receive Distant networks from Dish, you need a second account. I assume so the DNs have no possibility of showing up at your residence. I...
Kind of off the wall I know but we were thinking of getting a 211 for our RV and hooking it up to an external drive like we have at home. There are times when we are camping in heavy trees and can not get a signal. On these occasions it would be nice to just use the 211 to watch already...
We have a 311 that we use in our RV. It is often disconnected from power for as much as two to three months. I moved it into the house last month for use with a second TV as we weren't planning on using the RV. It works fine in the house and always powered. Last week I unplugged the...
We dry camp mostly and are always concerned about power usage. We use a 311 receiver which draws 25 watts of power (a little over 2 amps at 12 volts). Believe the 211 is a 50 watt receiver so would use twice the battery amps. For HD I would imagine the 211 would be your most efficient option...
Under Applications > Ubuntu Software Center do a search for Wine. It is a Windows compatibility layer that allows you to use some windows applications in Ubuntu. Your applications just might work with it. You can always uninstall it if they don't.
