This is perfect for some ppl. My parents for example may be getting a HD TV soon but will not be interested in paying $20/month extra for HD channels. They would however be interested in free HD local channels. I think this fits the bill for many ppl if it's offered for free.

The guy above is wrong. You can easily retreive the programs from the 510's HDD. There's a program out there that makes it extremely easy. You can get it from the Yahoo group called dishrip I believe. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, it is much slower than the 301's guide. The 301 actually has a pretty fast guide. You should check out a Tivo actually, it's laughable. You can scroll up or down and watch the guide fill in. The 522 does offer the choice of 4 or 6 lines in the guide.

The 721 has the nicest and most useful interface. Even the 522/625 won't compare to it. Although it is much newer and better than the 301's interface. You don't have to hit info on the 522/625 to see the show's info but the guide isn't nearly as fast as the 721's. I'll probably say it's...

I heard the DVR functions are very limited on VOD. You can't save material, and lots of the buttons don't work the same as if you were watching something that was recording off one of the actual channels. Is this right? What's VOD like, I'm never used it.
