Any news on the Turner channels?

Whether you like CNN or I like CNN doesn't matter. What matters is that CNN is there if/when we want to watch it. AFAIC, CNN made its mark during Gulf War I, and has come way back from the FoxNews intro ratings fade. I watch both and I want both to be there when I want.

No such probs on my 3-week new 811 - 'cept for a one-time check-switch anomaly I reported in the 811 thread over at the other place - post #188

"I have not seen them yet. And yes they will only work with dish stuff." Rolltide, you obviously don't know what the H*** you are talking about.

Are there ever any free previews of movie channels?

I just sub to everything so I don't have to depend on free previews to see movies - I get them all. HA! :D

Has anyone else noticed that the PQ on the 921 is very clear? Extremely clear.

Welcome to the 921 Support Forum

This may be the first support forum in history for a product that doesn't exist. More of a crying place for all us disappointed 921 wannabees. A thumb-up to Scott for the "one-upsmanship", I think!

    Questions about AEP.

AEP as a package represents a savings over ordering AT150 plus the 4 movie paks separately. CCAP, a payment option which is convenient for me, can be used with Visa or MC logoed debit cards. There is also an annual advance payment option which can save even more, but if you opt for annual...

How to change the horrible 94xx channel numbers for HD?

:thats: funny! Thanks for a good chuckle. First, we should be thankful that Dish hasn't come out wth the "Model 666 - the Receiver from HELL" or the "Model 411 - Getting Information". Why are you complaining about model numbers being used by Dish instead of names I've had a 9-digit model...

    Sometimes I wonder - A Scott Comentary

The 811 is not an entry-level product. It is a high-end HD s/a receiver which is currently being offered by Dish at a discounted price. I would recommend the 811 to anyone who wants a reasonable-cost entre' into HD, or a 2nd HD unit.

    Sometimes I wonder - A Scott Comentary

My 811 does not suck. - it does exactly what I bought for - it gives me pretty pictures, and it does that very well. It is Rad's unfair blanket criticism of the 811 that sucks. Rad, if you have a problem with your 811, send it back. If you have a problem with Dish, go somewhere else. But...

    E-mail I just sent to ceo@echostar.com

Sparky, if you think Charlie gives a schitt about our emails, think again. Based on last night's chat, he cares more about poker and bluffing his subs. He raised the HD stakes a few months ago by promising more HD, we called his hand and he folded. Clearly, E* is not the HD leader. Never was...

811 picture quality - Upconverted SD

Welcome, Jeff. :wavey: Good to have you here! Right now, I'm watching today's Falcons/Carolina game replay on split-screen, with ESPN SD via 811/component on one side, and ESPN SD via 7200/S-video on the other. I would give the 811/component a very slight edge on PQ, alll other things being...

How can we use any DVI with DVI-less Mits's (and others)

IMO, DVI is not a significant PQ improvement over component on RPTVs, most all of which are CRT-based, therefor, analog scan anyway. There may well be a noticeable difference with digital LCD, DLP and Plasma displays, but I don't have hands-on experience with those - yet. Until your DVI...

    My List of 811 Bugs

I agree, but not all 811 bugs being reported here are necessarily universal. It's important to get feedback from everyone on their 811 observations so we can compare notes. In an 811 thread over at the other place, someone reported an audio issue which I had experienced myself. Our solutions...

Anyone else seeing channels disappear on the 811?

Re: Also lost sound on 811 John. since we both experienced no sound on the 811, and your audio restored without intervention, it may have been a transmission issue. I discovered the "outage" around 7 a.m. ET. I've got to start turning my 811 off at bedtime for the 44-day EPG d/l and whatever...

    Locals on 811

Has this thread become ambiguous, or is it just me? It's not clear to me whether the posts pertain to "LiL" locals or "OTA" locals. I think neutron's question addresses "DISH provided locals" (Local-into-Local), or LiLs as we sometimes refer to them. My 811 maps all carried* Atlanta LiLs as...

Anyone else seeing channels disappear on the 811?

No probs here with any of the HD channels listing on the 811. I forgot to turn the unit off last night, but this morning every was ok except for audio. I lost audio from the 811 this morning on both component & composite audio outputs. Power-off via the remote didn't fix it, but when I...

    811 INSTALL SUGGESTIONS

They are hot - your TV just can't "see" them. The 811's DVI or component outs and SD outs (S-video and composite) are hot simultaneously. When you first connect HD, the 811 is outputting it's default 720p scan and you will not get a display with DVI or component connects if your HD TV can only...

No DVI cable included with 811

Well said. wazzup gets it and so do most of the rest of us. The last device I purchased that had every conceivable cable, wire and connector needed for every possible connection configuration was a new toaster-oven. But I still "wish" that a Pioneer Elite had come attached to my new...

811 Receiver Installed on Dish 500 System - My Impressions

"Tommorow I will move my antenna out of the attic and onto the roof and see if I can improve on the signal strength." Joe, you may be onto something there. Wish I had thought of that way back in the middle of the last century. ;)
