what are the charges for a 921

These are made by JVC correct? Is the 821 and the new 942 made by JVC also? One would think after 2 years (I think that's correct) since this came out the 'bugs' would be long gone. Any one else chime in here.............

How to handle OTA antenna/installer runaround...

I will be willing to bet MOST of the issues with the 'subs' are the programming supplier, E*, D* etc. They don't pay squat and if it is a return call I will be willing to bet they don't get paid anything. I don't know about you but, I don't work for free even if it WAS my fault! Freelance...

    Just Purchased 921 from Dish

I hate to ask this, but since I'm new to Satellite 2004 (I use to install the RCA single LNB D* when they first came out 10+ years ago) does it matter if you get a IRD or IRD/PVR direct from E*or somewhere else as far as your monthy charges goes? I know when the 921 first came out they had that...

People use to complain about the traffic in the city and that was one reason they moved to suburbia. Now, where is the traffic? I hate traffic also, but I was smart; I stayed where I was!

I need some advice.. DishN isn't looking so hot right now...

If there is enough 'overhead' the foilage might not be a issue. BUT, with the addition of rain it might put it over the edge (or I should say under) and you might loose signal. BUT, there is always winter, no foilage (at least in the northern half of the country.

He uses his eyes............... If you know directions you have a REAL good idea what is between it (the satellite) and you (the dish). You don't need anything else. If there are buildings; probably forget it, it there are trees; maybe.

I am only 11 amps out which isn't too bad. I'm sure you are probably 2 or 3 times that which makes matters worse. My cable image, after they upgraded the system 15 years ago, wasn't that bad, but since it is that long things have deteriorated. No 'ghosts' but the C/N, CTB, intermod, chroma...

SimpleSimon; what is that on the mast of the larger dish in the 2nd pic? Looks as a spring or coil of cable.

I don't even put a VHF/UHF antenna preamp outside. A few feet of cable from the antenna to inside a attic or crawspace isn't going to make much difference (maybe 1db). What you gain with convenience and getting it out of the weather well worth it. Besides, you have access to the antenna's...

That is the opposite of what I would of expected since I can't imagine anything SOFTER than what I have seen with D*! When I first viewed D* my first comment was about the roll off of the video. It looked as it wasn't passing 2 MHz. No noise, no artifacts and no resolution either! I...

Thanks NightRyder. I did see that before, but with the additional 1.63 million acronyms I had to learn when I switched my interest from computers to HD and satellites, I forget once in a while. Is the overall consciences that both of these services (D* & E*) in SD have the same 'smear'?

With 3 cables from the antenna and 3 from the switch, why put the switch outdoors? That's 6 more fittings exposed to the weather let along the switch being exposed! Or am I missing something here?

The FCC doesn't care and never did about picture quality of television (or audio quality of radio stations). All they care about is what you don't see (vertical and horitzontal blanking intervals, RF ERP, frequency, distortions etc. As long as it locks up and doesn't bother anything/anyone...
