    Will this Forum close if....

Sorry, but I have to agree. How and who will you choose from among DTV, DBS and DISH? Surely you must have seen all three of these bashed at one time or another.

Wal-Mart puts stake through HD DVD's heart

You might be correct, but I think your being presumptuous. None of us know where pricing (hardware or software) will be in a few months if BD becomes the format standard. If your prediction is true, then sales should suck because of the high prices and BD will have gained very little in the...

Sony was #1 LCD vendor in 4th quarter

I think it's smart marketing, you get the positive press release, or (quote) you provided in your post, and the sale of two pieces of hardware, for probably not much less than MSRP. And lets face it, no matter how much you hate Sony, they make a damn good looking HDTV.

High Def Disc unit sales - The Digital Bits

I agree, very savvy marketing. Buy large panel television and get FREE Blu Ray player, a couple of weeks before the Super Bowl? Brilliant! It's a tri-fecta, they sell two pieces of hardware and probably some software at some point.

Would payoff's even be necessary if HD software sales continue at the current rate (85/15) and uni and para's sales decline?

Is any one making money with this deal?

Amazon: $129 Toshiba HD-A3 with 7 HD DVDs and free shipping - Engadget HD Attention all fence sitters. Wouldn't seven hddvd disc's cost more than the player alone? Maybe this is a price mistake or typo, but I don't see Tosh or Amazon making any money with this deal. Show me the math:eek:

BluRay: Early adopters should've expected to get screwed...

Have you considered both a 40 gig PS3 for BLU and a Tosh player for DVD versus a combo? I've never researched combo player's or pricing but Is It reasonable to assume that, provided that space for two box's Isn't an issue and price Is comparable, COULD this be option? The other obvious...
