I've just received this email from Voom...

My recommendation to anyone trying to decide what service to switch to is to make sure you get the DVR option. I am a Voom charter member but have watched very little of what Voom had to offer. Without a DVR I found it difficult to watch what I wanted when I wanted. I also have Comcast and...

New Channels Added! (BBC, Noggin, etc...)

More SD channels. Wow! Woopee! I really don't care. I did not get Voom to watch SD channels. I suppose it is a necessary evil to satisfy the masses. I would trade in ALL of the SD channels for just one more good HD channel.

Rebranding of HD Cinema Channels have been done!

They should have left the channel names alone. Were these names picked by a child?

***** Big Big Changes for HD Cinema*****ALL MOVIES in OAR all the time

I agree that some are not cropped but the majority are. I will not be happy until the majority are not cropped. Heavily cropped movies are easy to spot and usually have a claustrophobic feel to them. I often begin watching a movie in Letterbox only to have it snap to fit the screen after the...

***** Big Big Changes for HD Cinema*****ALL MOVIES in OAR all the time

Okay, another month has passed since I asked this question. Where are all the OAR movies? I refuse to watch most this cropped crap. "As of September, we show all new titles in their original aspect ratio. all new additions to the lineup will be presented as they were originally intended...

***** Big Big Changes for HD Cinema*****ALL MOVIES in OAR all the time

I have seen very few movies displayed in OAR since the announcement. Is this really going to happen or is Voom blowing smoke?

Great News!!!!!!!!!! Just got back from a road trip to Phoenix and just learned of the OAR decision. Great to know that VOOM actually listens to us.

    Disgusted With Cropping

Sean, I found this site in December and have followed it ever since. I especially appreciate your input. Its a shame. It appears that most people are cattle, content on whatever is fed them. As long as most people don't care and don't complain we will continue to get cropped movies. I...

    Disgusted With Cropping

I've been a VOOM member since November. If I knew then that VOOM would crop the majority of its movies I wouldn't have joined up. In my opinion a cropped movie is a ruined movie. I just can't watch it. Even though I purchased two receivers in November and am getting HBO (HBO does not crop...

Problem - Picture too big for screen

The problem is with Voom. I have two sets. One, a Pioneer 710HD, is fed 1080i. The other, a Sony GWII, is fed 720P. The Sony does not have any overscan. The Pioneer has quite a bit of overscan. I reported this to Voom back in December. They acknowledged the problem but did not have a solution at...

    VOOM Receiver Lock up...

I've had many lockups today after having over a week of no lockups. I also had a temporary loss of signal today. Satellite signal quality dropped to 12 for awhile but is now at 50. The sky has been overcast all day but I don't know if this had anything to do with it. I never lost the signal...

To All VOOM Subscribers & Guests

tahoerob, Even with all of VOOM's problems I would never go back to E* as long as VOOM is available. E* doesn't compare to VOOM when it comes to HDTV offerings. The picture quality of VOOM also appears to be a little better than E*.

To All VOOM Subscribers & Guests

My Experience With VOOM & Opinion of VOOM I dropped "E" and switched over to VOOM on 11/26. I purchased two receivers. One of the receivers has the correct mapping for most of my local channels but the second receiver does not. The installer did not know how to correct the problem. The second...
