Wilt....what up with the NFL HD channel 311?

Wilt doesn't respond anymore on this forum, as far as I can tell.

ESPN HD going back to 720P? and when?

That Packer's game was about as good as ESPN-HD has ever looked (of course I've never actually seen ESPN-HD on a native 720p display coming through in 720p). It was really nice. But with HD baseball the PQ problems are really evident, and some of those are related to the 720p/1080i switch I'm...

    Voom Serial Connection to Tivo

Tivo will not give you your local channels on Voom in Tivo PG. Here's my work-around. Say you want to record Wheel of Fortune at 6:30 on local channel 13. 1. Manually setup up Tivo to record channel 999 (or whatever) from 6:29-7:00. 2. Setup Voom planner to change channel to Wheel of...

Quality of Voom supplied component video cables?

I read this in every conversation about cables: Unless it's a long cable run, cheap DVI cables are fine.

    VOOM & CVC Q2 Report

I mentioned earlier about Dish. I guess they're keeping up OK with D*. They added about 350k subs., and their churn was 1.67%.

    VOOM & CVC Q2 Report

20% is bad. I think Dish's and DirecTV's are <5%. Usually customer acquisition costs are $200+ per customer. I'm sure all of Voom's internal projections were for subs. to be much higher and churn to be much lower.

25k? That is awful. Did they release their churn rate?

Voom growing(from a wall street report) - Acquire licenses for West Coast

Here in flyover country I can get a signal fine. However, I can't imagine a satellite dish that could pick up both of these slots. What are their plans?

Very interesting article. Thanks for posting. HBO. Bravo. TripleCast. Quite a legacy. I wonder where Voom will end up on Dolan's list?

    Positive Voom Review On Cnet.com

Bad reveiw. It says Voom dish points SW. Voom points almost East. It says LOS issues for locals unique to NYC b/c of Empire State BLDG. There's only 10,000 threads about OTA problems here. Said Voom's DVR will be like 921. God I hope not. Hard to make much stock in reveiw written...

Great Article on New 5th generation OTA tuners

I know, I've read that also around here. But it's getting increasingly difficult to imagine Voom switching out 15,000+ satellites and STBs.

Great Article on New 5th generation OTA tuners

Good find, Vurbano. But this helps us Voomers in no way, right? Only if the cancer-curing DVR contains it will this technology impact us. Unless we want to go buy a $500 tuner or new TV. I'm glad they did it, though. Outdoor antennas are impossible for so many people, and multipath is a...

    something better than hdtv (uhdv)

I guess we'll have to wait for AlvyRay and Mark Cuban to take a stand :) I look forward to buying a UHTV when I move into that nursing home in 70 years. It does sound awesome, though.

Good find on the article, tim. 184 sd, 94 hd. That'll be amazing if they can pull it off. Will there even be 94 hd channels by the end of 2005, let alone 2004?

Best Remote to Use for Voom and my HT???

Yes, it does provide listings and works with Voom's data. I haven't really used it (edit: haven't used PG info much, but I've used remote for a couple of months and love it) much, so I don't know how well it works. I know it doesn't really work well with more than a few days info in it...

TVPredictions.com says "Voom Is Still Doomed"

Sorry, I didn't mean to spread untruths about Dish. I didn't know about that particular receiver. If/when I get my locals, I would be a big Voom booster. I still think Voom has to shore up its non-HD programming. Voom can't survive on just HD early adopters, especially at a 50$/mo price...

TVPredictions.com says "Voom Is Still Doomed"

TCM. TMC. I always get those confused. To clarify my position, I am not saying the 21 exclusives are throw aways (that gallery special on the beach with HD resolution of the unclothed female upper-torso region is something no one should miss), I just love ESPN, and want to make a good thing great.
