That night I was receiving several NOAA stations that I normally don't hear. I did finally manage to get the new SDRPlay drivers installed last night...had to temporarily disable driver cert valuation in order to for the install to work.

Downloaded and installed the new drivers, now Windoze can't install them properly when I plug the SDRPlay back in. I'll mess with it again tomorrow night maybe.

Yes, I have used it on HF several times, both USB and LSB. Make sure you are using the correct sideband for the freq band you are listening to. 40m is generally lower sideband. We have several radio stations broadcasting an HD Radio signal on FM. I don't have a receiver capable of listening...

I wish he would include a more agile FM transmitter in the unit. We have a strong independent station on 88.3MHz (KABF) which could wipe out reception of a weak transmission on 88.1MHz.

I remember many years ago there were SW radios for your cars which were basically upconverters for SW to MW, allowing you to listen on your builtin AM radio. Just mount one under the dash, hook up the antenna and power leads and you were in business.

Add another 150Mhz to that frequency...it should be 12010H. I had the wrong shift entered in SDR# so the displayed freq was wrong (my LNB for 97W is universal, for 87W it's standard :rolleyes: )

NooElec, as well as a few others, still have some dongles based on the Elonics E4000 tuner. These can tune a little higher than the RTL R820T tuner, but Elonics went out of business and the laws of supply and demand have pushed prices much higher for those dongles ($40-$50 vs $16). It appears...

The spike isn't present when I use it with Gqrx in Ubuntu linux on a different computer (an old Dell D610 laptop), so at least it's not the dongle itself.

Yeah, I noticed that too...whatever it is, it interferes with reception if it's within the signal I'm trying to decode. This is one of the R820T tuner units which isn't supposed to have the dc spike (the earlier e4000 tuners did). Maybe it (and alot of other noise from my office/ham-shack)...
