    Contest: Amiko Mini HD RE

Thanks for the contest :) Maybe if I get a little cleaning done I'll post a pic later. ;) Anyway, I would replace the Freesat v7 that I'm currently using. I would use it for scanning both C and Ku band sats, as well as watching regular FTA programming. I get the feeling that the Amiko likely...

    Eagle Aspen Dual Power Stabilizer

yup, thats what it looked like to me. if it is indeed a power inserter that senses voltage from the receiver and inserts the correct voltage on either port to the lnb/s (ie; does not lock polarity on either port) it could come in handy to take strain off of the receiver's power supply even with...

    Eagle Aspen Dual Power Stabilizer

it looks like it may possibly be a dual, voltage sensing power inserter, and not a polarity locker. anyone know anything about this? could be a handy component to take the motor and/or lnb load off the receiver if it does not lock polarity.

    DirectPC Dish

it's just a 1 watt transmitter, you are constantly bombarded with lots more than that constantly everyday from sources such as the sun, cell and radio towers, and wireless devices. a typical wattage for a microwave oven is 1200 watts..... besides, it has a separate f-connector than the receive...

    DirectPC Dish

Also, you can unbolt the transmitter, it will have no use for fta, and it adds a lot of weight to the dish. If you do remove it, make sure you use silicone sealer or something to keep moisture and bugs out of the feed horn assembly.

    DirectPC Dish

The lnb does pick up both polarities and will work just fine. 10750 local oscillator. Using one just like it right now. Keep in mind that you must adjust polarization with the dish in this case, because the lnb does not skew.

    Looking to get into FTA

what hughesnet dish do you have? is it a Ka or Ku dish? if it is a Ku dish, (hns7000 and earlier) then the existing lnb will work fine. and it's hard to go wrong with the amiko mini hd se, it's a great receiver. you can find it here, http://www.nc-electronics.com/store.html hope this helps :)

    DXing AM

So up till a year or so ago, I would do what I could to boost reception of FM (big rooftop antenna with a Winegard ap-8275 preamp), but I had always kinda ignored AM. In years past, to me AM was that unused part of my radio that was there for old people to listen to. (hmm, maybe I'm starting to...
