OP you think about listen to what Trip says. I'm a retired broadcast engineer, FM and UHF TV. One thing I truly believe is RF is going to due whatever it wants to. Books, designs, careful planning,....it doesn't care. Some times fooling around is the only way, and boy do you learn a lot.

You may have to upgrade your antenna. Do you have an amplifier on your antenna?

I'm sorry to hear this. I have a TV in my home workshop and usually have this on in the background. My local NBC station has this on a sub channel. My backup is PBS Create so guess that will be my new daytime station.

The main thing that has reduced our network viewing is the ads. Realizing ads are necessary it's hard to accept the total amount of time they take up in a half hour show. We enjoy Shark Tank but it's been hacked up into tiny pieces. So we lean more to PBS and streaming.

I once had a problem similar to this. Tried many things and in the end a 2 foot vertical move of my antenna fixed it. RF black hole ? So I suggest you try a slight move of your antenna.

I will agree that their programming has really gotten silly in some cases. I find myself on PBS more often and my local channels offer a nice variety on their subs. Lucky to receive 2 PBS channels. Watch Create a lot. If age group matters, I'm up there.

At this point I would also re-aim the antenna. I've seen a lot of weird stuff with my tv reception. Right now my main channels are being received off the side of my antenna. I gave up thinking about why.

I don't think 3 to 4 years is very old for a TV. If you can borrow a small tv to try I'd give it a go as a last ditch effort. If you ever buy a new TV make sure it has an OTA tuner. I heard it was eliminated on some models. Good luck

If you run out of things to try with the antenna system try a different TV, if possible. You never know.

Nothing fancy. Here's what I use with good success.

I had a Samsung DTB-H260F. Good tuner with HDMI, component and optical out. NO recording just a tuner. Came out in the early days of digital. They may be around used. I thought it was pretty sensitive. You can Google for specs.

Have you ever considered a portable spectrum analyzer ? Pretty accurate but may be ovekill.

Well a few questions for all of us. Indoor or outdoor antenna? Type of antenna? Location from tower sites? New or old problem? All channels or some? Just a start but I think more info is needed.

Kind of had the same problem with basically the same antenna. Three stations on same tower and the one I suspect has the most power was flaky. After a lot of fooling around the fix was a horizontal move of 12 feet (attic location). RF will do what it wants so keep trying. No amp was needed here...
