Is there a way to get UK channels in the US?

Bob - pretty sure GlobeCast lost those some time ago. Don't see them in the lineup anymore on thier website: http://www.globecastwtv.com

    Dish Pointing

Probably will have to use SM5 1.75 degrees to the west of XMR as your zenith and work out the fine tuning from there.

Apartment wants Dish down, or else they will evict!

For archival purposes: http://www.fcc.gov/mb/facts/otard.html Q: Can I continue to use my antenna while the petition or waiver request is pending? A: Yes, unless the restriction being challenged or for which a waiver is sought is necessary for reasons of safety or historic preservation...

Dish500 doesn't have spots for three LNBs. I am more confused then when this post started.

    Dish Pointing

A little confused. Sounds like you have a DirecTVPlus or Para Todos dish where the three LNBs are connected separately to the dish and wired to a 4x4 multi-switch on the back of the dish. That being the case, as you stand behind the dish, the order is 119, 110 and 101 from left to right. If...

Apartment wants Dish down, or else they will evict!

Your not dumb, it you were; you certainly wouldn't be here trying to get the info you need! As for a dish mast, it is the tubing that the dish sits on. Be it the factory mast that came with the dish or a metal pole it is set upon, etc. FWIW the OTARD rules allows for filing for a ruling by...

    Apex taking over for Express??

Shop got flooded with ex-premiere installers looking for work over the last three days. Wish I had more work to go around. Riddle me this ... $13.00 for a dish upgrade (round to phaseIII)? Maybe in major metropolitan area, but here where we can go 20-50 miles between jobs .. they must be...

Apartment wants Dish down, or else they will evict!

One last bit of advice, in the form of a question .... Is your dish mast grounded to the building common ground? If not ... it's a safety hazard, they can force you to remove it.

Any experts care to answer? @ RG-6

For sub-1000MHz that is correct, however, the loss accelerates as the frequency gets higher. 8-10dB/100ft is more realistic for DBS applications.

    Wild Blue

MSRP for the installation and hardware is $299.99 as of today. A lot can happen between now and the expected service launch in April. For example, the expected break even point is around three years. Can't imagine that anyone would jump in on a three year contract for a service that hasn't...

    is there such an animal

Set short of trying to fabricate a mount for a PhaseIII LNB, think your stuck with the Sat-C LNB and the +18V combiner for 110.

    Meter Problems

Had all three been used on the same job, before going bad? If so, were the receivers or ground connected when peaking the dish? A lot of "what ifs" but have seen errant voltage get on the cable line from both receivers and poor grounds enough to surge a meter. FWIW

Newbie question; G3 C satellite polarization?

The following is public information .... Galaxy G3C is located at 95 degrees W Longitude 22K miles above the equator. From Lewisburg TN you would use the following settings for receive: Azimuth: 194.0 degrees Azimuth (adjusted for magnetic north): 196.6 degrees Elevation: 47.9 degrees...

    Dyplexing

Depends upon your MSO's return path frequency. Most entry level diplexers only utilize frequency down to 40Mhz. Many times the return path is lower. Give the MSO a call and see if they will reveal the frequency to you. If not, it will be trial and error; just make sure the diplexer you select...

    Want Tivo

As a stand alone unit, the DirecTivo is the only one that is built that way for those functions. The Dish Network 522 does have two inputs and two outputs and could be used in a similar way, provided that your TV had a way of accepting both outputs and you don't mind switching back and forth...

    Switch problems with dual LNB

Sounds more like the voltages each receiver puts on the line to change transponders and polarization are not playing well together. I would start by disconnecting one receiver and seeing how the other two react, and so on for the other other two. May help isolate the problem or further...

    6ft dish antenna for internet?

You could probably find some obscure way of converting it over, but time you got done paying for it, you could spend the 600.00 on DiRECWAY or StarBand and get the dish intended for the service. FWIW PS ... 22K miles (approx) between earth and satellites, 88K round trip to send a request...

RG11 Cable Cutter for Steel Conductor

Misunderstood that all you were looking for was a way to cut the cable. Have been using the Klein 2000 series lineman pliers for cutting everything from RG-59 mini to .25" bolts since the 80's. The typical cable cutter isn't rated for steel as you pointed out; but you would need to upgrade...

RG11 Cable Cutter for Steel Conductor

Not sure what cable preparation tool you are using, but as rule of thumb ... As long as your prep tool has the proper cutback for the proposed connector and your prep tool doesn't score the center conductor; you should be OK. If you need to be more exacting, find out which prep tool is...

Ironic! Installer can't have Satellite where he lives

Not an attorney but every interpretation of OTARD I have seen says, if you have exclusive use to the area where you will place the dish without damage or alteration to the property; your covered. If there is an issue, then the LL can file with the FCC ... WITHOUT TAKING DOWN THE DISH. If you...
