    Actuator on Elevation Bar

I've used my dual actuator dish for tracking inclined satellites. You'd also be amazed how much signal increase you can get with a click or two up or down, especially in the Ku band. Plus its a nice toy to play with if you're into the bells and whistles part of this hobby. Good luck.

    Servo motor flip/flopping

This happens on mine also. When you turn the unit off, it doesn't really turn completely off. The receiver is still try to pick up data from satellites. The flip/flop may be for a purpose while the unit is off, like trying to reset the lnb for the best signal or looking the guide data to...

    Polarotor Servo Controller

Something to consider for the cheap do-it-yourselfers. Attached is a picture of a servo control unit. Its made by cutting the servo control sections from a Uniden UST-6000 circuit board, screwing them together and connecting some wires. Ugly, yes but it works like a champ. The slide switch...

    USALS on CBand project FAILED

If you're looking for more pulses per degree of movement, why not use the actuator motor itself. While DC voltage is fed to the motor to make it move, the voltage at the motor itself is actually pulsating DC. This is due to the communtator contacts moving under the brushes. Someone should be...

Dual axis navigator mount and actuators

I'm using a Chaparral Monterey 140 on my dual actuator. It controls both actuators and polarizer setting. You just select the satellite you want and it moves there and adjusts polarity. I'm running it on a 10 foot Orbitron with a Corotor. The 140's are hard to find but worth it, in my...

    C-Band Dead?

Respectfully, I would like to know what the "XXX" company is? If they're out of business, it would nice to know who not to call for programming. Good luck.

How often do you have to re-align your BUD

Once I aligned and lock down my dishes, I've never touched them again. You might want to put marks between the dish mount and pole, the pole and the concrete base, and the actuator and the actuator clamp. That will help determine what's loose. Good luck.

Horizontal Weaker than Vertical - Me or the bird?

Here's another thought for you to ponder. I just noticed you're using a DMX741. That c/ku combination lnbf is similar to the BSC621. In the BSC621, the alignment of the probes in the feedhorn is critical to pulling in good ku signals. Maybe your DMX741 has a probe alignment problem causing...

Horizontal Weaker than Vertical - Me or the bird?

Here's a couple of thoughts for you. Concerning the lnbf 13/18 voltage - These are just the switching voltages. Every lnbf I've torn apart always has a separate 8 volt voltage regulator IC powering the lnbf. The 13/18 voltages merely switch the flow of the power voltage inside the lnbf. So...

    Testing BUC RF Output

Or it could be someone who picked up a Direcway or Hughes setup and is looking to sell it on Ebay, seeing if it works and wanting to get a higher bid. I've got a couple of them sitting in my basement now. I'd buy something listed as "Tested-guaranteed not DOA" over something listed as "Unknown...

    Testing BUC RF Output

I was thinking of sticking a piece of wire (antenna) into the input of the spectrum analyzer and fire up the BUC. The analyzer will show the transmitting frequency and db range. If you wanted to check wattage output, you'd probably need a formula specifying type of antenna, distance to...

    Testing BUC RF Output

I'd use a spectrum analzyer or service monitor. Good luck.

C-Band Performance Tuning - New System. Help!

If you've tried different lnb's, if you've tried different receivers, if it happens on all satellites, if it happens no matter which direction you're pointing, then look towards what's left. Have you taken a receiver and monitor to the dish and used a short cable to the lnb to eliminate the...

No DC light on 4Dtv receiver

It sounds like you're saying you can't get a DC lite only on certain channels. If that's the case, maybe you need to try a remap of your channels. If you can't get a DC lite on any satellites or channels, that may be dish alignment. Digital is more sensitive than analog. You can receive...

Any problems after putting up the BUD?

Why not just call up the local government offices and ask? They are not the enemy. You may find out there are no zoning regulations or laws stopping you and you won't have to hide in the shadows. Good luck.

    My crazy pansat 9200HD

I've mentioned this before, but I really think this is a cpu overheat problem. I've performed experiments where my 9200 would slow down, I would put a fan directly on the heatsink and all problems would go away. All except that the unit wouldn't properly display 1080 HD. I suspect the cpu...

    LNB Stuck on H

If you've tried the 922 by itself and it switched polarity ok, then the lnb is not the problem. If you have the 9200 and 922 hooked up with a loop out or splitter, then the 922 is probably controlling the polarity when you want the 9200 to. May need to reconfigure the cables to get it working...

    gbox/vbox power booster

Is your max current draw of 2.75 amps measured or specs? I have a 12 foot mesh with a 36 inch actuator that I measured the current draw. When pushing the dish uphill from 135W to 87W, I start out at 1.4 amp, 25 volts. As it gets closer to 87W, it only draws .6 amp at 27 volts. I agree those...

    Ku on a big BUD

I took a BSC621, separated the Ku lnb and installed that lnb on a 10 foot mesh. It has a flat scalar ring built in and fits nicely into a regular scalar ring. It picks up much better than a DN lnb I modified to 10750 LO. It might be because of the flat scalar vs. the conical scalar that lots...

    She is starting to Sag!!!

I really think this whole buttonhook sagging is a bit overblown. I have 4 buttonhook dishes in my dish farm and haven't had any problems since I set them up years ago. I had one dish with an old STS C/Ku octopus feedhorn (the heavy, dual servo type) that I loosely put a support cable on to see...

GBox Sale: Save $20 - Sale ends 01/10/2010

This may start to be confusing. There is already a VBox V4000. It looks identical to the GBox V3000 except its build for European usage. I'm guessing the comparison is with the VBox 6. Could be interesting.

Dish crashes. 922 out of control. HELP!!!!

I will have to respectfully disagree with your conclusion that the lnb selection and signal reception has anything to do with dish position. The dish position is based on the pulse count from the dish mover (actuator). That pulse count signal comes from the sensor wires connected to the back...

Dish crashes. 922 out of control. HELP!!!!

I don't think the 922 is the problem. Swapping out the feedhorn or lnb would have no effect on dish movement. When you unplugged the 922, power is no longer being sent to the dish motor and the motor should stop spinning, stopping the movement of the dish. It sounds like the chain or...

    4DTV subtitles

I think from the 4dtv standpoint, subtitles and closed captioning are 2 completely different things. Subtitles are similiar to DVD subtitles, where the different language subtitles are embedded in the movie datastream. When you select a language subtitle, the dvd player then decodes that...

    DSR922

The 922 has two sets of RCA out jacks, an s-video connector, a digital audio connector and the RF output connnector. There's also a small switch between the RF connectors to select which channel (3 or 4) you want to use. Shouldn't be a problem hooking up an additional tv. Just have to figure...
