    CW

Looks like it huh.... They changed the way they send their signal. Manual PID entry looks to be a thing of the past. They did that when they changed their SR. Been that way about a month or so now.

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

Thanks for the suggestion about OTA, But we are in the same market and no dice on QVC being OTA. As far as dish size is concerned, I tried like mad to get her to agree to a 6 foot dish because I have an extra 6 foot prime focus that I can give her,but she don't want it. I have some time to...

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

I have a couple of those. One C/Ku and another Duel C-band in the garage. From what I have been reading, The Chap is the way to go if messing with a smaller dish for C-band. :) Have a Great Day!

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

She only has dialup for 9 bucks a month. Can't afford anything else so streaming online is out of the question. As far as trouble goes, I have enough equipment here to take care of that and I've been doing this long enough that the actual install will only take a couple hours if that. The only...

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

I know all about enabling..... We had cheesecake tonight for Christmas celebrations. The deal was Mom got up last tuesday in the middle of the night. Turned on QVC and ordered it. The funny thing was that she didn't realise she did that until she saw a paper she wrote on. Then she didn't...

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

Thank you my friend! I was wondering about a 4 footer. I'm donating my Pannie 9200 for the cause. QVC is the only reason that mom is keeping cable for now. She wants to ditch it bad as it is just too much for her budget even with the "basic" she has. The 9200 will give her the channel and also...

    Smallest Dish for QVC?

OK gang. My mom wants me to hook up OTA for her. She has been a cable person for many years. Her only thing is that she wants QVC shopping channel. Has anyone out there have any idea on what the smallest dish I could use for just that one channel? I am well aware that C-band needs a larger dish...

Looks like another hits channel hits the dust

Look at the 121 slot on C-band. TP 3722 H. It will blind scan in. That used to be the Gospel channel. It is now called "FFE". It still looks like gospel music to me. Just the name changed from what I see.

Can I use my Uniden UST4500 VideocypherII Plus for today's C/Ku bands?

I wonder how close you are to the Indiana line. Being new to this, you don't need to spend money just to "check it out". I have a few mpeg2 units I would donate to the cause and check out your system. Many times all one needs to do is hook it up. If you like what you see, then spend the money...

    How is my signal quality?

Signal meters are different with different receivers. My Pansat 9200 is maxed at 90 - 95 % Quality across the board. That said, My Manhattan is reading 75 - 85 % quality across the arc. 77-78% quality on the 3800 on amc3. 74-76% quality on the 4080 on amc3. I have a 10 footer with the dmx741...

    AMC-3 C-Band RTV on 3800

Tracking and a peaked dish is what is needed. I have a 10 foot dish and have no problem. That said, I had all kinds of problems until I got the tracking and focal distance spot on. Now I get everything! Soon I will set up a 6 footer to play with. Then we will see just how hard these are to...

    Help with tracking the arc

The post I made a few back had the instructions posted in a file. In the instructions, it mentions that some mounts are setup off center. So you should be fine. I never seen one befor that pic... Get post 25 and grab that. That should be everything you need. Even an elevation map.

    Help with tracking the arc

Well just goes to show that we learn everyday! That is the first time I ever saw an offset polar mount like that. Better yet, here is the installation instructions. Complete with elevation readings at various points across the USA. This should help.

    Help with tracking the arc

Looking at pic number 4......... Is the mount centered?? The photo looks like the pivot point of the dish is off too far to the left. The dish should pivot in the middle....... The bracket needs moved to the center unless I am seeing things.. Have a great day!

Could an aluminum pole be causing my problems?

Tightening the bolts can be a hassle with any dish. I even had trouble with my mount until I took note of how the mount moved when tightening. This is where a little patience pays off. When you tighten the bolts, do so in a methodical sequence a little at at time working in a pattern with each...

    Help receving Democracy Now feed

That show is part of the NPR, and PBS family. The PBS feeds on AMC-21 are Ku band. So all that is needed is A linear lnbf, and a 39 inch dish should get those. Being part of the PBS NPR family, they should remain on AMC-21 for the forseeable future. That said, with the move to HD programming...

C band set up - cannot lock on any birds

Better yet....... See if the following can explain better... Declination angle keeps satellite antenna from aiming into deep space and changes value with latitude in accordance to earth's curvature. Early astronomers developed the polar mount to track stars. For deep space tracking, i.e. star...

C band set up - cannot lock on any birds

To put it in the easiest terms possible, Elevation will grab the birds at the center of the arc... Declination deals with the ends of the arc.

C band set up - cannot lock on any birds

What I would do if you think you are on with the dish is hook that GI receiver up and look for an analog channel..... G-5 (is how that receiver should display it,) has one analog feed on TP 3... AMC10 also has analog channels... (QVC, HSN ) . Try to locate those. If you find them then check out...
