    Using receiver at another location

Thanks for the thoughtful and informative replies. I've only used DishAnywhere in the past with the Sling adapter and the quality of the app itself (on the web and iPad) wasn't great and the streaming quality was subpar. I understand it depends on your connection, but if you have a 100Mb...

    Using receiver at another location

Could I add and activate another receiver like a Wally and use it in my office at a different location? We don't spend enough time there to make it worth another subscription, but it'd be worth the $7/month just for the occasional times we may turn on the tv. Does Dish do anything to prevent...

    Info about Hopper Duo

If I want to add a Wally as a 2nd receiver, am I better off just getting it from Dish or buying a used one off eBay? I imagine I need to pay the 2nd receiver fee either way. Why is the Wally aimed at RV use? Seems kind of odd. Also, does Wally allow me to watch some of the Dish channels that...

    Info about Hopper Duo

I'm looking to keep a DVR, so the Wally doesn't really work. But does the Wally require an additional fee like a 2nd receiver fee if it's being used as a 2nd receiver? Seems like a cheap alternative for a 2nd tv.

    Info about Hopper Duo

I'm having trouble with my 722k receiver and Dish is offering an upgrade to the Hopper Duo, which would cost an addtional $3/month for me in DVR fees. I can't find a lot of info about the Hopper Duo. My main questions are: 1) Does it use the same interface as the other Hopper receivers such as...

    First Look: DISH 381 Receiver

This is perfect for some ppl. My parents for example may be getting a HD TV soon but will not be interested in paying $20/month extra for HD channels. They would however be interested in free HD local channels. I think this fits the bill for many ppl if it's offered for free.

    EXCLUSIVE: AT&T HomeZone First Look

Any idea how they distribute the ondemand showings? Bandwidth isn't cheap, and those movies to really be DVD quality are at the very least 1/2 GB, and tha'ts if they're using an advanced codec. Could they be using bittorrent to help dilute the cost of distribution? I'm not a huge fan of AT&T...

Overall concern about quality of Dish Network DVR software

I disagree as well, I have a 721 and yeah lately it has some minor issues like the skip back button not working or freezing for a couple seconds, but i really prefer the whole box as a whole to my crappy directivo which is slow 100% of the time and has its bugs as well. From my experience Dish...

Any news on NHL Center Ice package for the upcoming season?

I received the center ice package a couple years ago. And although the regular price is $169 or there about they offer an early bird special that runs until the season starts for $139. I'd also like to see them lower it to sub $100, but the biggest problem is finding the time to watch enough...

Dish dvr 510 hdd -> pc get back mov.

The guy above is wrong. You can easily retreive the programs from the 510's HDD. There's a program out there that makes it extremely easy. You can get it from the Yahoo group called dishrip I believe. Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Are there any screenshots for the 522 interface?

Yes, it is much slower than the 301's guide. The 301 actually has a pretty fast guide. You should check out a Tivo actually, it's laughable. You can scroll up or down and watch the guide fill in. The 522 does offer the choice of 4 or 6 lines in the guide.

Are there any screenshots for the 522 interface?

The 721 has the nicest and most useful interface. Even the 522/625 won't compare to it. Although it is much newer and better than the 301's interface. You don't have to hit info on the 522/625 to see the show's info but the guide isn't nearly as fast as the 721's. I'll probably say it's...

    SBC/DISH Subscribers - Status of 2Wire's MediaPortal

I heard the DVR functions are very limited on VOD. You can't save material, and lots of the buttons don't work the same as if you were watching something that was recording off one of the actual channels. Is this right? What's VOD like, I'm never used it.

Who's got the best SD PQ? dish or directv?

I just recently (about a month ago) got directv installed because that's what my apartment went with, and I notice a lot more artifacts than when I had Dish Network. It is a different TV, so maybe that could be it, but I was really surprised at how much worse it looked, with the TV back at my...

IMF to launch Today at 5PM

What kind of international programming is on this channel? I thought there was already a similar music channel. It is just world music, or more region specific? Maybe there's a list of different language music that's aired? I like how Dish is adding international music channels, for a premium...

Dish 322 or 522? ReplayTv used in conjuction.

What the...don't make your life confusing by doing a DVR in a DVR. PErsonally I'd just get the 522 and dump the Replay but your reasons are valid, I just don't think it's worth it. I rather have a satellite DVR with no reencoding. If money is no issue then obviously do whatever you want, but I...
