Team Summit - Keynote Address - 2PM ET

I"m not worth 1/100million of what Carlie is. But I beg to disagree. I believe middle-class couples will still have at least 2: The main big screen in the living rooms and the one in the bedroom. I do agree that the guest room TVs, kids Tvs, etc, are going the way of the dodo. But there's always...

    No Uplink Reports...

Scott, we can all wait for an uplink. Glad to hear you and your family are safe. The snowstorm, thankfully. wasn't as bad by me as Irene was - I never lost power, unlike the almost 48hrs without power after Irene. For those of you not in the areas of the country typically hit by snows, the main...

NFL Sundays - Dish Network regional sports

Let me try to give you a more definitive answer re pro sports overall and multi-sports package. You will NOT get any live pro sport on any of the regional sport networks that are part of the multi-sports package, outside of the pro sports available in your area - your signature says Detriot, Mi...

    BBC World News TV Channel

I found out today something that I never knew: That Cablevision, a provider in tri-state NYC metro area, already carries BBC World News: BBC AMERICA LAUNCHES ON CABLEVISION THIS WEEK | Press Releases | BBC America Press "Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) today announced the addition of BBC...

DISH Network Retailer Chat Recap - August 18th, 2011

2 quick comments: 1- If your stated goal to Wall Street is to increase revenue per subscriber, by dropping sports channels you are dropping an audience that's willing to spend more $$$ to watch their sports. 2- More Music... Interesting, do they plan to bring back Fuse?

DISH Loses 135,00 Subs in Second Quarter

Affluent customers = premium channels + sports + HD. Premium Channels, Dish is in ok shape. Sports, not so much.... HD - mixed bag, better than Directv on some tier 1/tier 2 HDs like AMC, BBCA, GSN but, on the other hand, missing most Disney HD channels - Also, NYC metro is the place with the...

Should i go E or comcast?

For TV service, I'd say compare the lineups from Comcast and Dish, then make your choice. If you like american sports, chances are you will be better off with Comcast than with Dish, because Dish will at best carry your Local RSN in HD for games only, whereas Comcast will probably carry it/them...

    New Receiver DISH 311K

I'm curious why Dish decided to go EA MPEG4 but WA MPEG2, I mean, what was the business reason behind it. I'm pretty sure they have had/will have to replace quite a few receivers on the EA.

My HOA is forcing me to say goodbye to DISH

As a president of a board, I think I may add color to the discussion here and share my own experience. As soon as I moved to my condo, I tried to get both Directv and Dish and then, unfortunately, I realized that my balcony face the opposite direction, so I couldn't get either and was forced to...

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

Information that was previously missing from post below: My 2 HD DVR boxes are HR24 boxes, and I am quite happy with both of them, especially with the fact that I can watch whatever I recorded on them on both of my TVs.

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

Like I said on my Goodbye post: "As much as I liked Dish Network DVR technology, by far the best I have used, and I liked the fact that I could easily turn my Vip 211k box into a single-tuner DVR..." Dish equipment is better indeed. But I think the Directv DVR boxes that I got(forgot which...

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

When I called to cancel Dish today, I was asked why. I clearly said: Lack of NY RSNs, Gol Tv and ESPNU in HD. Once I said lack of NY RSNs, they didn't even insisted in keeping me.

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

Thanks Iceberg, that's what I meant indeed. I pay 1 DVR fee, then it's 6 bucks per extra box, irrespectively of the extra box being another DVR or a regular HD receiver. On Dish, I'd pay 17 bucks, if I recall correctly, for the second HD DVR, on top of the 6 bucks DVR service fee.

Goodbye Charlie... (OFFICIAL I am Leaving DISH Thread)

It's time for my Goodbye Dish post. As much as I liked Dish Network DVR technology, by far the best I have used, and I liked the fact that I could easily turn my Vip 211k box into a single-tuner DVR, there were too many reasons to switch to Directv: 1- Availability of NY RSN, all of them in HD...

DISH Network Retailer Chat Recap - June 16, 2011

That's in Spanish. In English, however, Copa America only on GolTv, which Dish Network doesn't carry. That said, I could watch soccer in Greek, Mandarin, the language doesn't matter ;-)

    Your Voices HAVE been heard!

Man, I'll be traveling on business on May 25th. I'm really considering applying for this offer, if it ships quick, but the caveat is that in a month or so I am really thinking of jumping ship to Directv. I'm going to read the fine print about having to be a customer of Dish by the time the...

    Team Summit Photos

Like the catchy commercials would say, "BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE": Sponsored by Disney Channel, Disney XD channel, EspnU and SoapNet - first 2 had their HD feed removed and are part of existing Dish/Disney litigation, 3rd never has been in HD on Dish - I just can't recall whether Dish was carrying...

Dish Network please offering of $2 billion in Sr. Notes

they can use for whatever the heck they want - pay bills, retire old debt, pay dividends, pay salaries, bonuses, benefits.... that's what "General Corporate Purposes" mean. 6.75% at par and sold at a little discount - if Dish doesn't file for bankruptcy until notes due date, this is a great...

    Team Summit

I'd be interested on trying to understand the business reasons behind these 2 points: 1- Did Dish give up on NYC metro area sports fans? 2- Why it seems that Dish, of all other TV providers, is the one involved with the most litigation - Tivo, Disney, GolTv, etc Now for some other questions...

Is there a problem with a transponder?

In the middle of the (crazy) Pitt x Butler NCAA match, I lost access to TBS HD. It appears to me there are other channels down for me, such as, for instance, ESPN HD. I'm on EA. Is there a problem going on?

    BBC World News TV Channel

Not to get too much out of the context, but what's your source? I know for a fact that in Brazil, cars are +- double what they cost here in the US - I have some Brazilian friends and that's something that they always bring to my attention. For instance, the Chevy Malibu there is a 50k+ car.

Why doesn't Dish Network have Local on the 8's?

Yes - I check it every morning - in NYC metro today, totally useless - I knew temp would go down in some point of time today from a high of 54, but Dish app doesn't have every 3-hour details, like the local on the 8s on cable does. I ended up having to turn on my computer to check. It's an ok...
