    voom local OTA map change?

If the box doesn't have the latest firmware then you are stuck with the capabilities that it has. There is no way to push a firmware upgrade to a non-supported box. There is huge risk attempting to locate a working box from Ebay.

Beware of Sony HDTV's and DVI COnflicts Before Getting VOOM

I hooked up my Sony to the DVI cable that Voom included in the package. I haven't looked back. The DVI connection has worked flawlessly.

HD plasma without DVI or HDMI

I see no reason why the DVR would output down-rezzed video to your tv through the component out. I think that you are confusing people who are currently using a DVR to record Voom. They are SD models, so when they record the current signal they are recording down-rezzed HD.

OTA Channels Not Maintaining their “Hidden” Setting

If you press the power button momentarily on the front of the box then the box goes into "Standby" and you won't lose the settings. If you HOLD the button in for an extended period then you will REBOOT the box and it restores the default hidden status. It also loses the CallerID settings when...

OTA Tuning problem in LA - Fox 11.1 (65)

Something must have changed in their digital broadcast. I noticed that it was missing for the first time last night around 5 PM PST. This morning at 4:30 AM PST it (11_1) was on, but channel 4_1 wasn't broadcasting.

    Find Version of Software

Ron, get a picture of yourself standing by the Voom set top box with HDNews turned on your TV set. It would be great for Voom for a superstar like you to back Voom.

New Software Version 7.33 downloading now...

My box downloaded the program update and rebooted at 1:40 AM. At 4:15 AM it didn't have any PG info. I rebooted (power button held in for 15 seconds) and when the box turned on again it was on the same channel that I had it on when I did the reboot, so it DIDN'T change to channel 100 after the...

picture freeze up and signal flucuation

I got the 24 inch dish and the installer tried to do the same thing to me. The arm MUST be replaced also, not just the reflector. The focal length of the reflector is different and to place the LNB in the correct focal point you need the arm to be the correct length. As for the signal...

Vertical dashed green line in Pillar Box(4:3)?

I also have seen those vertical green marching ants on ONE OTA local channel. I can't recall at the moment which channel it was, but the problem is the encoding at their station. They kept switching between HD and SD feeds. The SD feed had the greent ants, the HD feed didn't. It comes and...

FIX: Frequent lockups after the 7.26 update

My personal favorite is 2160P, but nobody supplies content, so I have settled on 1080P. Of course, with my Voom STB the highest resolution it supports is 1080i, so I am using that for now. Really this question has nothing to do with this thread, however.

    No info on Program Guide

after you plug in the stb again don't touch the remote for at least 20 minutes before checking anything. If you don't have the pg then, then you need a new stb.

    Hiding locals no longer permanent

vurbano, is your phone line hooked up? My box needed to be recycled almost every day until I disconnected the phone line. Since I disconnected it I haven't needed to reboot (over 8 days now). I think that the caller id feature made the STB sensitive to phone call noise or something. Anyway...

Is Caller ID working for you?

I don't believe the people that say that it works perfectly for them. I bet the ID displayed doesn't agree with the actual phone call info, but is cached from some prior call.

    Caller ID with Voom?

A reboot will fix the caller id function for the next use only. The second call will display the info from the first call. The third call will display the info from the 1st call. The 4th call will display the info from the 2nd call. Then after that it will always be 3 calls behind.

    Caller ID with Voom?

I just tested this on my STB and I can confirm. The CallerID displayed is from 3 phone calls ago. A little misleading. I have disabled the CallerID function until this can be fixed.

    VOOM STB Version 7.26 (2.30): Features/Bugs/Requests

I haven't heard of any new 7.26 bugs that would require a rollback to 6.20. They are just new bugs, but not necessarily major ones. Please add these bugs in the 7.26 bug list: Box forgets setup after reboot http://www.satelliteguys.us/showthread.php?t=36514 CallerID displays info from...

V 7.26 loses settings after reboot

Since I've gotten version 7.26 I noticed this new program "feature." Now, if the box locks up and I need to do a reboot the box loses my OTA channel blocking list. It re-enables all OTA channels that were found during the last OTA channel scan. A reboot also resets the Caller ID preference...

    Caller ID with Voom?

Does Caller ID work on any of your phones in your house? I believe that your phone company needs to enable your account for it to work. Also, when you enable the Caller ID function on your STB you need to press the green button to save your settings afterwards or the STB ignores your request...

Crop channels to fit a 4:3 TV

I don't know how you do it, but I do it by upgrading to a 16:9 TV. You might try scissors, if you don't mind altering the picture permanently. I tried to find the picture of 16:9, this is all that I found: Your search - "the picture of 16:9" - did not match any documents...

Suddenly the guide isn't showing up and I'm not getting all the channels

LNB (Low Noise Blocker) The LNB is the component located at the end of the arm projecting from the satellite dish. It converts the Ku-band signal beamed from the satellite to a 3.7 - 4.2GHz signal, then filters out low-end frequencies and amplifies the high-frequency signal before sending it to...

pioneer tv 510 cant be made into full screen

Because these are output as SD from the STB, because the source is SD. Local OTA channels, however, may be "upconverted" by the local carrier and sent as HD signals containing black bars. Then the box is displaying the entire picture, which happens to now contain black bars to the right and...

Help? Something wierd with my locals

No, everything is as it should be. USDTV has begun broadcasting in the Los Angeles area also. They have taken over several stations and it looks like they are splitting the signal into 6 (UGH, SIX!!) subchannels for each frequency. They are trying to compete with cable and satellite. They...
