I want to win an Edision OS Mio 4k with The North America Project image I have been out of the FTA game lately and this would get all the channels that my old CNX receiver is missing.

    Cost of a transponder

"Given that lower-cost alternatives to receive PBS broadcasts are available to current big dish households, Congress should repeal the clear feed requirement. " Government thinking at its best ... making it sound better for the little guy who has to open his wallet when it is the government...

Is there a Good STB to receive CBS Network (and other 422) feeds?

In reality how many more channels would you get on American satellites with one of these PC cards over an AzBox? Are we talking single digits or more than ten?

In Memorium: Rich ( Anole) Steincross Has Passed Away. May He Rest in Peace

Wow just stumbled upon this thread and am shocked. I searched on line and could not find an obituary. How sad that only a few people will know of his passing.

    107w c band or 111w c band?

Thanks! So is that channel worth moving the minibud there?

    Big Shake-up to Happen on 99w and 101w C-band

Go price the cost to build, launch and administer a satellite over a decade or two before saying it is price gouging. The fact is more of these full time satellite feeds to one location are going away. There is no point to it when cheaper stable landline options are available. The only...

    107w c band or 111w c band?

If that CTV 2 non S2 signal is still there it may come in on a 1.2m. I would be interested to hear about any results with a Titanium C1PLL lnb.

    Burying RG6

I have had about a 100 feet of RG6 (from Lowe's 500 ft box) buried just under the grass for three years now without issue. If you have skunks or other animals that dig there is some risk but RG6 is cheap if you buy in bulk and do your own ends.

Contest: Enter to Win a Titanium Satellite PLL C-band LNBF - Ends Oct. 20, 2014

I have been waiting months now to test a lite against my cheap ebay import. So a C1WPLL lite would be great but I wouldn't turn down a C1PLL either. :biggrin

How can I check for a satellite signal?

Go to dishpointer.com and input your location near Ketchican. Zoom in on the map and reposition the pointer to install location. Choose 111.1 Anik Wildblue from the satellite list or other nearby satellite that is 23 degrees elevation. Use obstacle checker and move the red pointer out to nearest...

Satmex-6 vs Galaxy 19 and Hispasat 1E: Broadcasting Websites to Western Hemisphere

If you are just targeting knowledgeable people like the community here then I would launch on G19 for a short term test. In the long run you probably will want to be on a satellite with a strong signal that can be received on cheap small dishes that people with limited incomes can afford.

    An Iceberg sighting

I will always remember the Iceberg satellite farm. It was not the largest or best looking but it achieved so much from little space. That balcony with all the dishes would have had a negative WAF if Iceberg was married. :)

    First foray into FTA

About the only thing good for a 18" dish is CCTV on 95w. There might be some other strong feeds it will get but I consider it a waste of time. I have a modified Dish 500 which is two inches bigger and it will get some channels on Galaxy 19 but 24" is really the bare minimum on that satellite...

    71% Signal Quality. Only 3 Channels - 97W Galaxy 19

That cheap meter they gave you is good enough to find the satellite arc but only someone with lots of experience can tell the difference between 95w,97w and 101w on the meter display.

Is Radio Shack hopeless for this hobby, or is it just mine?

I would like to know how much has been squandered by management over the past 10-15 years in store remodels/floor plan changes. There are locations that have moved shelves and displays 20 - 40 times or more. You would think that one could master a display of batteries or headphones at some point.

wireless internet interfering with C Band

Can someone explain why the interference is happening even when he moves the dish to another satellite? According to the specs for the wireless dish the gain pattern is very directional with small side lobes on one side. Moving the cband dish a few degrees should remove the problem because the...

New mystery receiver discussed on Satellite Nation tonight

Interesting that it looks like a Skybox F4 with a different power button. Also I don't get everyone being excited about having Android in a set top box. The last thing I want is Google logging my viewing habits. Ok that might be a stretch but Google will have its teeth in this box as soon as...

Now Playing on 97W KTV2: "Cheaper By the Dozen"

He probably gets the information from one of the Kuwait newspapers. The Kuwait Times in English has a TV guide but it only has some premium channel listings. If we can figure out which one has it online then someone can run it through a translator site.
