    Back in the game

I have 2 Wiengard approx 8' mesh dishes that I don't need anymore. They are both disassembled. One has been sitting behind a shed for a number of years and not sure of its condition. The other was just disassembled and is in good shape. They are both free to a good home but you would have to...

    PBS MUX down on 125W?

Live in SW VA and can no longer receive any of the PBS feeds from 125 using a 90CM dish with PLL LNB. Since my line of sight is just above the tree line I thought it was just that the trees were blocking the signal Yet I can get a strong signal from 121 Dish infomercial.

    opinion on small c-band dishes

When I started this hobby I bought an inexpensive 180cm solid panel dish and a c/Ku combo LNB. The dish was not well made but I was able to receive est 80% of the C band transponders in my limited arc viewing angle. You might have difficulty in receiving DVB S2 transponders on C band.

Issues with LPB mux on 87W (SES 2)

I have the Geosat Pro Mico HD receiver and watch LPB daily. More often than not I have a similar experience. The transponder is OK initially for a brief period of time then it gets so choppy it totally freezes. Then it seems to reset and I have no problems thereafter. This is the only...

    LPB - SES2

If you do a rescan when LPB is blank you will find that there is a sporting event on the same transponder using different symbol rates or id's.

    Anyone knows anything about G3C 95W 4167 mux. KBOI & KPER-TV

All transponders on 95W are also blank for me even though I have a Q of 76. Its been that way for the better part of a week now.

    OETA Problems?

I purchased a 90cm GeoSat Pro dish just to get PBS transponders on 125! About 6 months ago OETA signal went below the noise level but can get all the others. Go figure? I use the S1PLL LNB. Even tried to repeak the dish but still no joy.

    Reflector skew signal loss

So the LNB sees a circle within the dish no matter what the skew. Thanks for clarifying.

    Reflector skew signal loss

On a fixed oval shape offset Ku dish designed for a single LNB would there be signal loss if only the LNB is skewed and not the dish? For skews 45 degrees or more it would seem that the dish illumination pattern would be partially off the dish thereby reducing the signal level. If so would the...

    Dish paint

Black will help melt ice/snow in the winter on metal dishes. Would not go darker than neutral gray for fiberglass dishes.

    Smallest EMWIN antenna

You will end up with about 20dB gain @ 1690 Mhz with the L-com antenna. You could give it a try but unless you do a system analysis using the specs from the LNA and the SDR device taking into consideration bandwith and SNR needed its hard to say if the gain is enough. Again, those Maxim devices...

    Smallest EMWIN antenna

Not sure how skilled you are with making circuit boards but if you check out the package outline you will find that it will be extremely difficult to solder this component by hand. Something like an SGA4586Z would be more forgiving in the fabrication department. You will need chip components...

    Smallest EMWIN antenna

Many years ago I built a 4' dish out of metal window screen and aluminum frame/ribs with a homemade LNA. This combined with a police scanner as a receiver and a converter to the computer did a good job of receiving GOES images. The dish was even used in the house. The dish probably had a gain...
