OTHER X2 Premium HD PVR Satellite Receiver

Discovered after four years, that changing time to GMT (Greenwich Mean Time) allows the receiver to pickup satellite transmitted time. Whereas the built-in chip-clock doesn't maintain accurate time for more than 24 hours, even with receiver set to never go to standby.

OTHER More Programming - Bigger Dish or C Band?

A hail chart I made up: 1" - quarter size; destroys old plastic lenses and covers; otherwise, OK. 1.21" - half dollar; ? 1.7"-1.75" - golf ball, cracks windshields. 2.5"-2.7" - tennis ball, cracks windshields. 2.75"-2.9" - baseball, shatters automobile windows 3.9"–5.9" - grapefruit

OTHER More Programming - Bigger Dish or C Band?

What's the minimum quality that will withstand greater than 2" hail? Commercial only? Reason I ask, is I know of three different storms dropping 4"-6" hail a few miles away. Non-mesh only (fiberglass or steel)? As a comparison so far, my 90cm/36" GeoSatPro has been undented by 2" hail; cars...

    OTHER Best Blind Scan Receiver

LNB listing-advertisments often show a Noise Ratio; I misspoke calling it Sensitivity. Would a lower Noise Ratio aid in a higher Quality Signal?

wvman, I have no experience with this; but, wonder if the sensitivity of your LNB may be too high for those transponders.

AMIKO Need replacement for Amiko 8240

harshness, that's one part of the daunting understanding of surge protection I had. What structurally makes a main box a main box? Two buidlings I had wired by an electrician have what look to me like distribution breaker boxes as a main--multiple slots for circuits, one acting as a main...

AMIKO Need replacement for Amiko 8240

harshness, I found in researching the what-surge-protection-to-do subject to be rather daunting. I've also talked to one long-time electrician that wasn't knowledgeable on the subject beyond installing a surge device. More to your comment, two panels are a more common setup for manufactured...

AMIKO Need replacement for Amiko 8240

My local electric utility fried one of mine last year. Since then I've upgraded my outlet surge protection and added "whole home surge protection" to two main electric panels.

wvman If not worn away, it's on the LNB too. 5150 is C-Band, not KU band. Universal LNB Vs C/Ku standard LNB

    OTHER Best Blind Scan Receiver

[wvman] Someone able to watch the satellite video or turn the volumn loud enough if able to hear it at the dish, while tugging the top of the dish, then bottom, left, right to see if the full-reception comes in? Reception from a transponder on the same satellite can require a very fine degree...

    OTHER Best Blind Scan Receiver

I don't know about receiving on the other side of a mountain. Have you used a reception-distance checker of your more specific location: tvFool.Com? Anything in green? Bigger omni-directional antenna? I went from a small 2 foot x 1 foot--very seldom dropping signal for minutes--to a medium...

    OTHER Best Blind Scan Receiver

In my geographic area, I pull those and other local stations in through a non-satellite-ATSC receiver and added switch, HDMI, to switch between satellite and local receivers. Guessing: I don't know as though signal quality can be seen on a receiver without pulling in the reception.

    OTHER Best Blind Scan Receiver

I don't have experience with the Amiko (Mini HD, Mini HD SE or Micro HD) or AZbox; but, lean towards one of these as a next receiver. My experience is with X2 Premium and X2 X-Square; which I have no plan to get another X2. The blind scan works fine on the X2; but, doesn't save the user-setup...
