I think what I might try to do is save up some money & get a 1.8m satellite dish. I found one for sale here. I don't know what the shipping & handling is though (I have yet to figure that out.). Here's the datasheet for the Satellite Dish i am looking at. Does anyone know where if there is a...

OTHER Question about using a Directv Satellite Dish with a FTA reciever.

Thanks. I was kind of looking at getting one that can not only measure signal strength, but also display what's on the satellite, kind of like this one, so I would not have to carry my little 9" TV\VCR combo unit & reciever around & also not have to run a long power cord out to where I am trying...

I do, also, have a Dish Network satellite dish, but it's missing it's original LNB. Could I still use it with the LNB I have.

OTHER Question about using a Directv Satellite Dish with a FTA reciever.

This is the best I can do for now. Looking South. The dish does have slight damage on the edge of the left side, also the pole, that I am temporarily using, is actually a (Approximately.) 10ft long PVC conduit pipe. The pipe was wanting to lean a little bit due to the weight of the dish & also...

Here's the pictures I took. I currently have the dish & pole laying on the ground, so they won't get blown over.

OTHER Question about using a Directv Satellite Dish with a FTA reciever.

Other buildings in my area have DirecTV\Dish Network satellite dishes. Do they have stronger transponders. I will keep messing around with the dish & LNB to see what happens & try to find a stronger pole to put the dish on.

OTHER Question about using a Directv Satellite Dish with a FTA reciever.

Somewhere around $100 to $125. I already have the receiver & Ku band LNB. I actually think that some of the problem is that I really haven't been able to figure out where the focal point on the dish is.

OTHER Question about using a Directv Satellite Dish with a FTA reciever.

I'm still not able to get anything. There is a hill, some buildings & trees to the South of me that may be blocking the signals. I can't get the signal quality meter to register anything. I've tried raising the dish above 9ft & it still won't work. It could be that the pole & stand that I am...
