    Idea: DVR Early Sign-Up

I got my DVR today and I recorded VOOM on it. :D It is a DISH 942 and I like it a lot. I got it and a DISH 625 to hook up 1 HD tv and 4 SD tv's. 2 of the SD tv's have to watch the same channel, but I have a total of 4 TV sets that can all be chosen independently, and ALL tv's have DVR...

    How many out there.......

I too am watching Voom until there is no more signal coming from the sky. I already have my new HD DVR from Adelphia and am chewing up the harddisk doing time-shifts on the couple of shows that I like. I hate Adelphia and their HD offerings. I get exactly 2 HD channels from them that I can't...

    Your Local Forecast...

Thanks for the info Ron Jeremy, I only have satellite experience with Voom, and wasn't aware that Dish and Direct offered a localized weather channel. I am still waiting for Direct to turn on the 1500 HD channels that can be received nationally. I will switch to any provider...

    Your Local Forecast...

I think that what chef-Patrick is asking for would require about 1500 localized weather channels to accomplish. I really think that this is NOT feasible for ANY satellite provider, let alone one that only has 46,000 subscribers. :D ;)

What will you do if VOOM goes under?

I've already received my HD DVR from Adelphia Cable. I am able to record HD programming from ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, HBO and SHOWTIME. If Voom is not available, then this will have to suffice until someone figures out that we really do want HD programming available. I will continue to Va...

The PQ is back, the love is back

My two cents: I only watch the HD channels. In my opinion the PQ has not been as good since the new encoders were brought on line. The picture is way too soft now on all of the channels. Even the promo channel, which used to be consistently the best, has soft focus on everything. My...

I think Voom is in a great position to grow fast

Because of Voom's current uncertainty, I broke down and ordered the HD package from my local cable company. For an additional $22 per month over their basic digital package I added 7 HD channels and their HD DVR. My total cable bill, including Internet Access, Digital Basic, HD channels, HBO...

    Sleep timer

Turning off the STB at a scheduled time wouldn't accomplish anything. Your TV would then just lose it's signal source, but it would still be turned on. The STB consumes nearly the same amount of energy whether turned on or in standby mode, relative to the energy use of your display device. A...

Now that VOOM is dead, who will be your provider?

Since my set doesn't have an ATSC receiver, at the very least I will need to get a STB to receive the OTA channels. After that, I will need to see who can offer some HD content in my area. My cable company, Adelphia, advertises heavily their "HD Package", which for $40 per month would give...

    Trouble with Voom's website

Yes, I enter the name and password. In the past the first page that came up after that would show what services I was subscribed to and then allow me to access my Account, Profile, and Installation from that page. Now I get the error message. If I poke around a bit I can finally get to the...

    Trouble with Voom's website

Thanks for checking. I've been trying since last night, so the trouble seems to be more than just rebooting the server. I'm sure they've tried that by now.

Would you want the stb to use the front display?

Would you want the LED turned on? Would you want Voom to turn on the LED display on the front of the STB? Please be aware that in Voom's user testing, some objected to how bright the LED display was. This is a rewording of the poll that jimmykce1 started here...

Would you want the stb to display channel/clock?

Apparently in their user testing, more people complained about the annoyingly bright light than people that liked having some kind of information displayed. I am leaning towards not wanting anything displayed.

Would you want the stb to display channel/clock?

Can someone add appropriate poll questions that would make the results of this poll useful? option 4: both clock and channel only if the display could also be turned off. option 5: I don't want any more lights on the box.
