Samsung Model SIR-TS160 High Definition Receiver

This has DVI output so a DVI to HDMI cable or converter would give you digital HD connectivity - sounds like a good deal to me. Will your friend let you set it up and see if it works or not?

Digital converter box keeps adding channels

What kind of converter box do you have? I've got a DTV Pal plus that does the same thing and I would prefer to have it not look for and add new channels everytime I turn it on. It says it's retrieving the guide data but then comes up and says it has found new channels. I haven't checked the...

C4 antenna, what kind of amp works with it?

Give your C4 antenna with a preamp a try and see how it works before jumping out and buying something else. I've got a C4 with a CM 7777 amp that works fine and I am 60 miles out from the LA towers behind a set of hills, and I get reception on channels 7 thru the 50.

    DIY UHF/VHF Combiner?

Is this true for all areas, or just yours? Most of the complaints I have read about are poor reception for channel 7. It would be nice to hear that their is a problem across all areas and a possible solution is being worked on.

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

Got up this morning, rescanned my three sets, and was pleased with what I found. The C4 does do high VHF - might not be the best performance but if you got the old analog signals with the C4 this should work for you. We are 60 miles out from the LA towers and have a C4 mounted about 25 feet up...

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

Two questions - How far are you from the transmitters, and do you use any type of signal booster? We are 60 miles out and use a CM 7777 booster which gives good results but so far the lowest digital signal is channel 26. I would be really interested in hearing the results after moving the...

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

Guess I had problems understanding their chart. Does it matter that I do pick up analog 7 now although not as clear as with my old 9' by 14' channel master, but I do pick it up. I'll post something either good or bad after the changeover.

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

Nice find! OK - doesn't the chart show the C2 gain really consistant from the lowest channel graffed - probably 10 - thru channel 50 or so? It would be interesting to see the C4 specs - a 4 bay instead of just a 2 bay - for all the new digital channels from 7 up. Might just surprise everyone!

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

According to the manufacturer specs this antenna is designed to cover the 7 to 13 VHF-HI digital channels but we won't know until the changeover happens. Currently I get our ABC-7 analog channel just fine so the UHF signal should come thru OK, but again we just don't have any actual performance...

    Clearstream C4 HELP!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that someone besides me are happy with their C4. I am 60 miles from the LA transmitters with a substantial set of hills between me and them, and the C4 has done an outstanding job for the last couple of years. It replaced a huge Channel Master fringe area antenna, picks up...

Where to put preamp for OTA Antenna

Your problem is most likely the home node. Bypass the home node and put the backwards 2 way splitter in to combine the TV2 and OTA signals. Attach one TV line to test and see how it works - play with your TV2 channel selection at that point. Once you get it to work then put your splitter...

Where to put preamp for OTA Antenna

You really don't need the home network - just reverse a splitter and use it to combine the dish TV2 and the OTA lines, then connect one of your remote TV lines and see if it works. If it does work, then put a splitter after the combiner (backwards splitter) and hook up the other TV's lines...

Where to put preamp for OTA Antenna

Try the reverse splitter with no amplification to one line and see what happens. If that works add the other lines. I am not familiar with home node but you might have a problem with too much amplification - do a search in the dish network forum and see what you can find about home node - I...

Where to put preamp for OTA Antenna

Look real close at which channel your 722 TV2 is using. It defaults to channel 60 and it sounds like you have some OTA coming in on that channel. The ota can be both digital and analog so you need to check both. Check out tvfool.com and see who is currently using what channel frequencies in...

    NEW OUTDOOR ANTENNA INSTALLATION

The gable mount will work with a large antenna. I had a Channel Master 3671 on a 5 ft mast up for about 5 years with no problems. What I did was angle cut and nail 2 by 4's to the gables then mount the hardware on the 2by4's. This way I could move the bottom support down an additional foot or...

    Yes...another Antenna Suggestion Thread! :)

I just replaced a CM 3671 with a Clearstream C4 and I get better results - more channels come in without breaking up plus the antenna has probably less than 10% of the footprint of the 3671. I am 60 miles away from the LA transmitters and have obstructions - 3,500 ft hills a half mile away -...

Can anyone reccomend a good indoor antenna for digital TV signals?

If you make the YouTube antenna keep in mind that where the coat hangers cross over each other - two places - you need to keep them from touching - maybe a small piece of wood between them. This will get you much better reception.

DTV to test radio audio channels and to discontinue TV analog by law in Feb. 17, 2009

Looks like AlvaJr got a head start on the eggnog this morning.

    Chimney Install by Contractor

Just a thought, but would a telescoping mast on the peak of your roof supported by guy wires work? I used one many years ago that was three 10 ft sections that worked well with a rotor and all. That would be much less expensive than a tower plus you could do it yourself and save some major bucks.

Wanting to install first OTA antenna

Did this a couple of weeks ago and got one semi-interested call but the size scared him off. Also tried the local green sheet with one flaky call and no results, so it still sits on my patio roof. Next step is probably the "free" section of Craigs list, then if no results off to the scrap...

Wanting to install first OTA antenna

You know I was hesitant to post my opinion but decided to do it anyway. Yes, I did trust the maker when they said it was a full range upper VHF and UFH antenna. The changeover in February will tell the story, but I still think the antenna is a good change for me. I didn't notice the 90 mile...

Wanting to install first OTA antenna

I replaced my fringe Channel Master 3671 with a Clearstream 4 and got good results with all the HD stations out of LA which are 60 miles away. Got to admit that the old analog stations don't come in very good but the HD signals are much more stable plus I get more stations than before. The old...

    coathanger antenna

Good to hear that they work. I haven't made one yet since we are 60 miles from the LA transmitters - anyone think it will work for FM radio? If so I'll give it a go.

    Trouble with KTLA?

I just found your message - I live in Yucaipa and it looks like KTLA5 is coming in the same signal strength as before. Are you still having the problem? I have a 722 and it shows a 67-68 on the signal strength meter.

    Blue Antenna in Yellow Zone?

Sounds like you still might be using the analog channels - might as well buy a converter box and see how your current antenna does with the new digital signals. It just might suprise you - even after you move the antenna into the attic. After the February cut off date only channels 7 thru 69...
